This is what I ordered some days ago:

1,7ghz pentium-m.
15,4" uxga screen.
Ati 9600 pro turbo.
768mb 333mhz ddr ram.
60gb 7200rpm HD
4x dvd burner.
Truemobile 1400 54mbit.
Xp pro.
Dell deluxe carry case.
1 year complete care and 1 year next business day on-site.

768mb ram is enough, right?

768 should be plenty unless you will be doing CAD work or something

I think I'm just going to replace the 256mb chip with a 1gb chip when ram becomes cheaper, then I will have 1,5gb.
I think 768mb ram will be more than enough for now.

Can't wait to get the system, estimated time of arrival says 12 feb.
This thursday.

did you check out that site? is that a typo or what? come on, a price jump wouldnt be that much for ram.

Maybe they changed there prices since you posted it Death but those prices are a rip dawg...

Newegg sells 256 for 47 bucks and 512 for 97 buck. Mucho cheaper. ON a sidenote, I'm glad I bought Ram when I did, saved me 8 bucks on a 256 stick.

I cant seem to find many places that sell a 1gig stick of memory and paying over $1000 is INSANE!
Yeah but the guy maxed out on the machine anyway, Why not some expensive ram to match!!! Carrying case and "idiot insurance" as well!!!Cha-CHING!!!!

Actually I can see the one year ONSITE payoff. If you are going to be under warranty for "free" for a whole year, may as well let them make the trip. But Complete care??? If you think YOU are going to be that careless mess up the computer in the first year what makes one think they are not going to in the second and third year when it becomes "more familiar and we tend to become more carelss". That is a "Complete Waste" policy....could have bought the RAM with that money.

No that is funny 1 Gb, u are paying 1 Dollar a MB. That is Crazy. Well newegg Kindmax 2X512 $194 and I have warranty on it. I already got my ram and I don’t c noting I can’t do on my computer .I mean my lap cost me $1548(1.3GHz,256MB(already upgraded to 1GB)4 DVD-RW,ATI 9600 Pro Turbo,40GB HD15.4 In ) and u think I’m going to spend $1G on More mem. That is just crazy. I have seen 1 gb for like $440. How many people here are Fans of AMD( Fan here)

But u have to know that MHZ don’t matter. Intel is lost some marker share cuz they had there own investor Fooled with The MHZ BS. I can run anything with 1.3 which is what I have on my Laptop. my desktop has a 1.4 athlon Palomino Core AGoGia Core and I have it at 1.8GHZ and it runs everything with flying colors. There is nothing I can’t run. In my opinion the only thing that matter is Ram and how fast your ram is. I have 768 on my desktop and my Computer can take up to 4 GB I know u need registered for the 4 GB, but I know I can put 3 GB but I know I’m never going to put it on it. Well my point here is that I think everyone should get 1 GB of ram but now that 1 stick For $1G not happing. Other thing u have to think about the heat!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. my lap get hot I was getting mad paranoid but then people told me, here that is normal and is not going to do noting so that mad me feel better ( I use a Bored when I’m in my Bed room and that is how I use it when I’m in my room. People always want to get a fast CPU but they forget about the battery. Other thing I do is disable everything that I don’t use like LAN (wire) My 56k modem, the Card bay, parallel and serial ports. So u don’t use cycles. I mean is not like is going to save your like 75% but u know something is something. Well I just don’t think u should ever suggest that Memory no one man. LOL I mean if u have money to Burn like that then u are a lucky guy. I think u should consider this one page, is more affordable. http://www.4allmemory.com/index.cfm?...model_id=-2728. OO SH1t look 1 Gb For 300 change not bad Not bad last time I send it it was $440.

Nootrak

Most people buy the fastest processor not even knowing what it will do that a lesser one cannot. People BUY the NUMBERs not for the application! Hell People are overclocking the great ATI 9600 cards just for a few more 3d Mark numbers!!

If it takes one hour to render avideo on a 1.7, it will take aprox 40 min on a 1.4....That 20 min coasts a hell of a lot. Now if there was something one COULD NOT do UNLESS one had a 1.7, I can see paying for it!! but that is not the case in computer world.....Im sure you can do anything on your 1.3.And I can run games fine with my GEforce go 5200 as well.

This is one area where " If you build it...they will buy"

Oddly though the 1.7Ghz PentiumM runs on a lower voltage than the 1.4 isnt tha odd?

So this means the 1.4 is actually faster than the 1.7? (I imagine this would be a typo... at least, I would _hope_ this is a type *lol*)

So does that mean that the 1.7 will last longer on the battery
