BIG thumbs up for Arctic Silver 5

Thread Starter
So, the other day, I got some Arctic Silver 5 to help out with some cooling problems with my desktop rig, and decided to try it out on my laptop. It is a HUGE difference.

Yesterday, I applied Arcitc Silver to my laptop's CPU. I have been running Prime95 at 100% CPU for the past 10 hours. CPU is undervolted to 1.148V... and when I checked the CPU temp, it reads 33C.

Is this anywhere near possible? 33degrees Celcius under max load?

what was your temp before?

Also what utility are u using to measure the temp? Some temp monitors display the incorrect sensor, hence the wrong temp.

NHC got it wrong on both my Toshiba Tecra M3 and Asus v6va. I use speedfan (I had to determine which was the right sensor since there was a total of 4),

Unless you room temp is very low i.e. 20c or lower 33c under max load seems impossible for a notebook.

yes... what was the temperature beeing reported before?

33 seems way to low. I have a Duo with AC5 in a very well cooled notebook (Asus S96j) and I run 49 - 53C while idle. At this temp my fan is not even running so I guess it is possible if the fan is always running.

I was looking at my temp with Everest Home and then realized that it was only taking temp when I opened program and it would not update. NHC reports the correct temp for my notebook (and updates properly).

Has anyone tried http://www.svc.com/coolab.html this stuff? Claims are interesting...liquid metal compound like mercury-ish.

I had Artic Silver 5 applied when I ordered but I must admit my fan hardly ever goes on, only under high stress. Almost never in normal word processing and stuff.
