I think you did a beautiful job. But I have just one question, how come you didn't paint the DVD drive? The cover pops off and then you could take masking tape and cover the light. It still looks exellent. I would pay big money to have it done to my 600m.

its just that i didnt know how to pop off the drive cover i was afraid id break it, and second laptop dvd drives are expensive so its not worth doing it unless i %100 sure how to take the cover off. anybody can help me with that??

There are some crappy paint jobs that I have seen in this forum but yours is one of the better ones if not the best. Good call with the car paint airbrushing and your car painter did a wonderful job! He could probably make some good cash from doing this. I'm pretty sure there is a demand for this kind of service as I see some boutique places(C0L0RWAREPC.COM) already doing this but they charge a whole lot of $$$. Again your 600m looks awesome and you just gave it the modern look it needed.

embedded bt

excellent paint job......
automotive paints definitely are quality paints and pretty much have an endless choice of colors.
how well does the paint adhere to the plastic parts?
will it peel off easily if accidently scratched?
i was thinking about trying the new krylon or rustoleum paints that are formulated for plastic if i can find an acceptable color. they actually bond to the plastic on a molecular level and are supposed to be very durable.
have you tried using the usb port that you connected to internally, with another external device? i tried this on mine and found that if i plugged in another device it would disable both the external and the embedded devices. so if you want to embed bt you will not be able to use that port externally. another option would be to embed a small usb hub and splice it in between the original port socket and the mb connections. i do have a pretty small hub that will probably work, just haven't got around to trying it yet.

Very nice paint job. I'd have to agree with the other.. my 600m suddenly looks very boring.

thanks for the sweet comments, its ego boosting

dont get me wrong the default dell color is cool when the laptop is no more than 6 month old!! but after a while, the you will notice how the palm rest and other areas become kinda dull or pale and even shiny (ugly shiny) because of the friction and stuff. But when giving the laptop a paintjob with a glossy finish, it will stay shiny forever and will never wear out (unless you use it to harvest your crops and what not) and you can always polish it with car polish every once in a while to get that shiny sharp look.

about the USB, i know exactly where to solder the USB wires, i gotta solder them under the motherboard where the USB pins are. but the thing is i cant find a guy that can do a precise and accurate micro solder work, because i know if one drop of solder falls down on the mobo, thats it. its ova.

anyway im holding back on the embedded BT project cuz i dont even have a BT phone anymore, my last BT phone i had was a Nokia 6670 (symbian OS) and it got stolen when i was wasted at party (dont drink people, only drink till ur tipsy and STOP!)

Its true my paint guy can make a fortune out of this, but, how many people in my country (Syria) wants to get their laptops painted?? NON! lol people over there are so materialistic and paranoid that their scared to even change the RAM's by themselves. they always go to a technician so he can rip their a**es wide open with the bill.

anyway thanks for the comments. for any tips or tricks PM me.
