Which way do the fans blow on the bottom of the 5660? Also, does anyone know temperature wise how hot the bottom of the lappy gets?

It will still suck man!
In either case you wont be too comfy with this laptop on your legs - it gets pretty hot (or) the laptop will not be too comfy seeing your legs in the way of the cooling fan
it would get too hot.KEEP THOSE LEGS AND HANDS AWAY FROM THE FANS!!!

hee hee

Flat clean surface is what keeps these laptops happy dude...

Ok, I've been using my laptop AS a laptop, and I've got a couple of comments about this. The fans pull air into the laptop, so the bottom actually is barely warm. However, the exhaust for heat is the entire left side. If you are a left handed mouse user, or you've got a buddy sitting on the left, then there will be problems.
Now, you want to have plenty of ventilation underneath, so what I do is carry a 1/2" binder around with me and use that for the flat surface.
The biggest problem you'll run into is the laptop is so damned heavy you won't want it on your lap for very long anyway.

I gotta say I'm not sure where all the talk about heat and weight come from....I've got an 8886 and really it doesn't get that hot. I mean if you hold your hand right in front of the exhaust fan it's aweful warm but really.....And as for the weight, I'm not some super-buff guy who just doesn't notice the weight, but I've sat for hours with this thing on my lap and never had a problem with it cutting off circulation or being uncomfortable. My wife complains about the little feet digging into her legs but I haven't noticed it. If you're at all worried about it just buy a little TV tray for $1.50 and set the laptop on that, keeps the heat off your legs, spreads the weight out, and gives your someplace to use your external optical mouse comfortably. (Suddenly I can sit in the living room and watch those horribly boring tv shows that she loves

LOL

Yeah, maybe my hands are more heat-resistant (I was one of those kids that practiced making fireballs and things with various brands of hair spray.....my friend used my sager last night and he did complain about the heat from the side vent (till I showed him to simply turn the sager a bit so that the vent wasn't blowing right on his hand......I was going to finish with a lesson on breathing and eating but he was already a little ticked at our Counterstrike scores so I let it go

Yeah, the keyboard stays warm (but in my cold basement that's actually kind of nice). I don't have to hold my hands in front of the space heater before typing
Also, if you're left handed and REALLY worried about the heat from that side vent, get the 8886/7, the vent is on the right side.
