Ok, so a while back I was thinking about connecting my laptop to a TV so that I can watch some Windows training videos on a big screen instead of a dinky 15". But my current TV is not HDTV, so it's a waste of time. I dropped the subject for a while.
Then I was at my cousins house, he had his laptop (1024x768) connected to his 50" rear projection Sony HDTV. But it was crappy clarity. You couldn't read the letters on the TV. I'm pretty sure the HDTV probably was like 1368x720 res. I tried dropping his laptop res to 800x600, the clarity improved a little, but still was blurred.
I'm totally a newbie to this area. I haven't researched it at all. Thought maybe somebody here have tried this and could give me the skinny on it and save me the trouble.
I don't know what kind of cable was used to connect to the HDTV. It might have been S-video, but I'm thinking it might have been RCA!?
Is perfect clarity only had by using a VGA cable? Or could it be had with S-Video? From scanning some of the HDTV specs online, some units dont' even have a VGA port.
