Windows Vista? - Page 2

ok well i happen to agree with the Joelist, i installed the Beta 2 last week. Sure it has a few bugs but that is to be expected. It works fine and fast for me. The only annoying thing is that i cannot run aero and some of the more graphicaly intensive things.

Well I want to call BS again, but I wont- I think I have to rest on that we have very VERY different ideas of what smooth running is(Im not talkin about bugs either).
With the exception of ram, every piece of my desktop blows away papermans setup, and it runs soooo far from smooth its not even funny.

PS Vista + Office 2007 = 14-16 gigs omfg
Vista + Off 07 + VS .net 2005 = 18-20 gigs fcuk!!!

Oh, God, I am so confused... I posted a thread in one of the Dell sections asking about the XPS M1210's overheating issues, and when they said the video card would cause the most heat, I said I'd opt for the integrated option. Then someone came in saying Aero wouldn't work well on the integrated... so will Vista work COMPLETELY on an Integrated + say a Core Duo 2.16?

As of right now NO!!

Let me say I got an earlier build of vista w/ glass running on a dx8.1 grfx card, even though M$ is gunna recomend a dx10 grfx card.

So yeah it did run, but even the top of the line integrated card right now doesnt touch midrange discreet cards.

On another note: M$ said mobile vista WILL require a 50MB Hybrid Harddrive from oem's....haha

Hmmm... by the time Vista comes out, do you predict that Integrated cards will be able to run Aero? You're no God, so I'm not asking for an answer... just a prediction.

Can u hack aero to work....probably

But although it looks and does the same thing, it will feel hacked when compared to running on a decent grafix card

Look arch, if two people with a 233 both find vista works fine i think that blows any chance of BS out of the way. Maybe its just your desktop which happens to find Vista hard to run

Hi,

Vista is already engineered to run with ful Aero effects on some integrated chipsets (like GMA950). Others need a hack.

Will it be better with a deciated GPU? Obviously, but then that is the case pretty much all the time anyway.

As to the FUD that "Mobile Vista" needs a hybrid HDD, one again not so.

First, there is no such thing as "Mobile Vista". Second, what was said was that, starting in June 2007, laptops would need a hybrid drive to have the Vista Premium Logo. Here is a neowin thread on the topic:

http://www.neowin.net/index.php?act=view&id=33611

Also the same information is right at Microsoft.com under the Windows Logo Certification program.

A lot of this stuff seems to be coming from the same place, namely The Inquirer. Experience has shown that this source is, shall we say, less than reliable.

Yeah, the mobile vista hybrid hdd was somewhat fuddly...my bad, but still thought peeps should hear bout it
I visit inq, but also take them less serious as some other sites ie [H]

I still find it hard to believe that my desktop struggles when the 233 doesnt
As I said b4, my desktop specs DESTROY a 233, further which Vista beta2 auto configed everything oob except the audio driver.........
