Hi guys,

Wondering if anyone else is having issues with the monitor going almost black on bootup, then going back to normal after rotating the monitor a few times. I'd hate to send my baby back, but at the same time I don't want her to be borked either. To me it seems to be something in the hinge monitor connection. I did get an extended warranty and seh is still under her origional year warranty.

Sooooo... Anyone else out there having monitor darkening issues with some respect to the hinge...????

Well....... HUH?????

definitely RMA.

Seems like the same problem the 8790 has sometimes: a loose cable between the monitor and the mother board.

Definately a loose cable on the motherboard or a partial break in the wiring harness itself. You have any hissing or discoloring of your image? If so then maybe your inverter too.

this problem is haunting me again. I didn't RMA it yet since I figure I will be losing my baby for a few weeks, and its a work PC. I need to keep working in the meantime so I have been hesitant about sacrificng it to the RMA god's. Anyway's... if it is truly a loose cable is it unadvisable to open her up and try to reconnect it betterer, or best let the RMA monkeys bust her good? Also anyone with RMA experiences good or bad would be appreciated so I know what I am looking at timewise and quality of work wise.

PS any help would be... Ummm... well... Uh.. Helpful.

If you're still under warranty, I'm pretty sure opening the case in such an in-depth fashion may void that coverage. In that case, RMA it.

If you're out of warranty, well, do what you please heh.

Yeah emailed support. They seem to already know whats wrong, and simply wanted to RMA so time to figure out a temporary replacement, and do another recent full backup. Would it be wrong of me to remove the hdd? there RMA instructions said something like "If you remove the hard drive, Write that in the note in the pakaging" or something of that nature. Meh... too much trouble I'll just run the backup and send it all together.
