FN keys work, easy way to check battey, enable wireless, change the lcd brightness

FN Keys work without Quickset. Quickset just forwards you to control panels and lets you change a couple things that aren't of much help. And unless you like to change the color of lights inside an XPS while still in Windows (without going into BIOS), then it doesn't do much good for XPS users either. I uninstall it.

Do you really save that much space by uninstalling it? Seems like it has some useful quick links to the graphics controls, power management settings, icons and toolbar sizes etc... If you are into the LED's, it would suck having to go into the BIOS every time you want to adjust them. From the looks of the task manager it appears it's only using about 3500kb of memory, which isn't that much.

Plus you get that shortcut to Dell "support" in the gaming interface, a real timesaver that could literally shave seconds off your journey to glitch free laptoping bliss.

i personally didn't even realize I was missing quickset when I swapped harddrives so I guess it depends if you have use for it or not.

There is also Microsoft s/w that you can install that will show you the volume level along with being able to assign program(s) to open when hitting the play button.

Well, I'm a minimalist who likes to disable all but the essentials, but I rather like the media keys and the onscreen display indicating the volume. But if you never use them, off with its head!

I actually prefer the Microsoft Intellipoint v5.5 on-screen volume control over Dell's and the fact that it lets you customize the individual media buttons as well!
