FL Inverter?

Folks,

I have a Satellite 2430-402 running XP Home. It suffers from an intermittant backlight failure in that it will fail for a few seconds and then return - sometimes just a second or so up to loss for 10 seconds. Info on the screen is just visible if you have very good eyes. With help from this forum I have dismantled the unit and the FL unit is a K000001290 WK318.

Question. Is this a problem unit? Is it possible before I spend out for a replacement that there may be some other cause? It's just like closing the lid so I just wondered if it may be a dicky switch.

Does anyone have any like experience and would offer some advice?

With best regards, Brian

Hello Brian,

Toshiba has announced FL invertor problem for about 2 years ago and sent letters to it's customers however it was on Satellite 1800-1805 serious so it doesn't match with your model.

Thanks for the response. I've also seen some references to FL problems but nothing specific to this model. I've checked connections but can't see anything obvious. I guess the only thing left to do is to change it out. Anyone know of a UK supplier for new or second hand parts?

Regards, Brian

I've seen FL inverters on ebay in the US for about $20 shipped and some of the ebay stores even ofered international shipping for a bit more. You might want to look there, ebay in the UK/Europe might be a better starting point.
