So far Dell's support has been good to us. This is one thing that Sager did not have... on-site support.

I think I'm passing up on the XPS... I'm too spoiled with the battery life. On a 2 hr flight, I just start the game in the DVD drive, hot-swap with the secondary battery, and I'm gamin' a lot longer.

Is it just me or does the XPS look like an XBox trying to swallow an 8600?
No, its probably about their super crappy support.

Yeah, what is the battery life going to be on the XPS? 2 hours? MAYBE?? I like the batter life on my 8600.

"Dell, for one, is expected to deliver a game-oriented Inspiron XPS notebook on Thursday. The machine will offer Intel's Pentium 4 Extreme Edition processor, a 15.4-inch wide-angle display and a top-of-the-line graphics card, sources familiar with Dell's plans said."

"But Alienware has already beaten them both to the punch. The Miami, Fla.-based company began offering its Area-51m Extreme with the 3.2GHz Pentium 4 Extreme Edition chip in late January. When configured with the chip, a 15.4-inch wide-aspect-ratio display, 512MB of RAM, a 60GB hard drive, an ATI Radeon 9600 graphics card with 128MB of onboard memory and a DVD-ROM drive, it starts at about $3,400. "

HOLY CRAP! $3400?????

Good quarter from Dell. It is most likely that they will launch this new gaming notebook later today or tomorrow to spur demand this quarter and help drive their revenue up this quarter. They did a very good presentation at the start of their earnings conf call.

Strange...Dell's site is down right now. I've only seen this happen once before when Dell offered "extra" discounts on the Dimension 4100...

One thing about the Alienware Area-51m 15.4" version...its screen is dog-squeeze compared to the 15.4" offered by Dell.
