What is the best way to connect a laptop with DVI and S-Video out to a LCD with HDMI SCART and DVI in and how would you go about connecting the audio?

You take a dvi cable, plug one end into the laptop and the other into the monitor. /done

As for the audio...you take the wire with the green end that came with ur speakers (im assuming thats what u plan on pluggin it in in order to get sound) and plug one end into the speakers, and the other end into the green port on ur laptop.

If ur monitor has speakers, since u didnt mention any external ones, u do the same step as above, but this time u plug the green wire into the port on the monitor.

Use DVI cable and cable with proper connectors to connect audio. Your notebook has mini jack headphone output propably and most LCD monitors have mini jack input. LCD TVs has RCA connectors usually, so you'll need RCA to mini jack adaptor.

thanks is dvi better than s-video yeah? and also what if the lcd only has an hdmi port. Will a dvi to hdmi lead lose quality? and do laptops come with hdmi ports yet?

DVI-D and HDMI are fully digital both, so you won't loose quality with an adaptor. HDMI carries audio also and that's main difference. And yes, DVI is much better than S-Video

Cool so if I get an LCD that only has an HDMI port then i can just get an DVI to HDMI cable annd plug it into the DVI in my Laptop and HDMI on the LCD and I am laughing yes?
p.s I take it laptops don't come with HDMI ports yet to enable the transfer of audio and sound between them and LCD's so i will need to run a seperate audio cable from the 3.5mm jack on the laptop to the tv right?

I've never seen a laptop with HDMI port, but it doesn't mean that they don't exist... For better sound you can use S/PDIF output if your devices have proper inputs/outputs...

Thanks for the advise. I'm thinking of going for the Acer AL2032wm - It's the same as the Ferrari F-20 widescreen but without the Ferrari logo. Now all I need to do is decidee whether to wait for an Acer Aspire 5672 with an x1600 to come out in the UK or go for the Aspire 5652 with Geforce Go 7600. Apparently it has a TV tuner instead of a cam. Do you think i can watch tv through the tv card on my LCD and still operate the laptop from it's own screen?
