New Arima BIOS [0F08.P01E] - Page 2

As usual, they are incorrect. The 52.00.00 (and .01) were placed on machines with the 0f0x.p00 boards, not the NS boards. Yes I agree................

It seems that this is an eMachines Release, not an Arima. I know that it is Arima that programs it, was made for eMachines.

I opened it in the BIOS editor and the splash screen was the eMachines "e" logo.

Wow, that's weird coincidence for me because I had a lengthy chat conversation with an emachines tech guy yesterday describing the Targa bios upgrade and how it seemed to address a number of issues but left an important one out. I mentioned to him that I (we) hope that when emachines also gets around to the 0F09.P00 upgrade, that they would try to include some code that would recognize a bootable USB device in the logical boot menu.
He was real positive and said he'd pass the word on to someone who could do something about it.

they dont know a thing about the differences, heck i doubt its even documented in the support database that there IS two different board and BIOS versions. of course, thats probably because if it was then most of the people there would interpret it in compltetly the wrong way (becuase people, inherently, are idiots). the few of us that did know about it (through reports here on NBF, etc), were never able to get anyone else to understand it. and i dont think theres anyone left there from that group anymore. all that mattered to us was that those much higher up in charge of RELEASING the updated BIOSes (like the release for the 05), do know about it and always release BIOSes for both versions in one package

just an update, i posted a note asking the originator for the +&- of this 0F08.P01E bios - no feedback yet, will keep everyone informed.

cheers ...

It is a bit on the smallish side compared to the others. I notice the 08 and Targa09 are each exactly the same 516 or 512k, I forget. This is around 438 uncompressed, which makes me wonder if they stripped even more instructions....or maybe they just stripped filler.
So you haven't tried it yet?

very keen observation indeed

not yet. i m waiting first for a feedback. we have already many users pushing with success the m68xx to perform at 3700+ by installing 3400+ and OCzing it. just to flash the bios for only the possibility to install a 4000+ is not quite sensible, imo anyway. furthermore, according to the history, the bios is very new, with currently 2 very brave guinea pigs.

cheers ...

You're Correct, I tried to fix that problem with the Windows XP Battery Meter, after flashing the NS.05.00 BIOS on my 7405GX , it reads the battery as being uncharged, when in fact it's fully charged, even a Windows XP Repair didn't fix the problem..................so, looks like I'll be going back to 52.00.001 BIOS, at least with that one NOTHING is BROKEN on my 7405GX, and everything works like it should

updates:

1. still no feedback (from thread and pm) left from neither the originator nor the "2nd official" tester

2. what i gathered from reading/reviewing the thread history:
a. trying to install 4000+ on m68xx machine - no go, no boot (0F08.P00 constraint of max 3400+ support, can anyone confirm on this statement?)
b. when flashing m68xx with NS.00.05 bios = 4000+ can be installed (can anyone confirm on this statement?), but issue with battery meter and system throttle at 50%; a "bug" in the NS bios according to the originator (?)
c. report/confirmation of unofficial/official 0F08.P01E successful on m6809 machine allowing system running stock at 2.4ghz/2.61ghz with throttling at 800mhz when on battery (battery power management scheme?)

3. there is no other report regarding the bios version except for 4000+ allowance on m6809 (m68xx) or any feedback on how system performs after installing this P01e version

keep monitoring -
cheers ...

Which CPU's?

does anyone have a list of CPU's the new bios is compatible with (on m6805's)

the turion's?

the heat and battery life ++++'s would definitly be worth the upgrade...
i've been using this on a m6809 for a while, no problems so far, battery meter works

somebody pif me a 4000+ stat

heat, maybe improve battery life, with a turion there will be no change
post #33 of 51

no help on battery?

you sure about the battery life? turions are running 25W, and the stock moble 64's are running at 64W.

watts=power=heat, and power used as heat, comes fromt the battery.

updates -

1. it is confirmed that 0f08.P01e only supports the installation of 4000+ chip. No side effect so far comparing to the 0F08.P00

2. hold ur horses:

Have only been running the new 0F08PO1E for a few minutes, but cpu-z reports correctly and so far no problems on stock m6810.

can u take a look at the speed at "post"`(before windows start) - this is where it is supposed to wrong, according to the originator.

cheers ...
cpu speed on POST shows 2000mhz, so it would seem correct to me.

i guess then this relates only to the installed 4000+ chip. we just have to wait for the feedback from the originator. cheers ...

ghn, in your sig you mention that you had big improvements in 3D using the 0F09.P00 bios, but what do you mean by that? Do you have numbers which you could share with us?

Or is any other user out there willing to share pre and post-flash benchies?

ps. My 7405GX has been at the hands of BB for over 2 months(that's why I can't do it). I bought mine and the service plan at the US, and the unit was brought to a Canadian BB store in order to replace the lid. Their excuse is that it had to be sent to the US in order to be fixed.

I can't speak for "ghn" However, I did try the Targa 0F09.P00 bios on my 7405GX, and didn't notice any REAL improvments, about the only thing I noticed was that after flashing the 0F09.P00 bios, my Brightness setting that was in my old bios was GONE, and I could only adjust it on the keyboard, I WAS NOT ABLE to set this in the 0F09.P00 bios to the MAX, setting that the old 52.00.01 bios had, also, there was something about being able to boot from a USB Hardrive, with this 0F09.P00 bios which turned-out-NOT TO BE THE CASE, at least it NEVER WORKED FOR ME. I didn't do any Benchies, but, the 0F09.P00 bios did VERY Little if anything at all on my 7405GX, the original bios 52.00.01 that shipped with my 7405GX worked just as well as the 0F09.P00 bios but with only the missing above bios fuction..........hope this helps?
