Great job on the pictures!

Corn....it would probably be extrmely close...but it almost looks like there is still a tad bit of room for the plug to be plugged into that connector covered up by the gpu...you would have to really finagle the wires to follow out from underneath the gpu..probably from the bottom section going towards the speakers, and even with that, it would be precarious getting the top casing in the right position to plug the gpu back in with only an inch or 2 of leeway worth of wire to give you room to lift up the top casing to get the gpu in there....but I wonder if it would fit or not..because the plug pushes down into that femail connection on the motherboard..I wonder if it would still clear? Maybe i'm completely off in my thinking, and if so, just set me straight...but looking at those 2 pics of the angles of that female under the gpu makes it look like it may work, .....a long shot, but possibly? just passing on my thoughts...thanks for all you've done man!

I'd like to make a suggestion with regards to the connector underneath the card. How about fabricating some sort of L-shaped connector that extends from under the card, and then has wires coming out of it to be able to attach the laptop connector?

I think it would be easier to take the female end off the motherboard, hardwire some wires to the motherboard and then connect them to the female

If someone can get me the complete PCI identifier information for the 7800 Go Vanilla, 7800 GTX, 7900 GS, and 7900 GTX I'll work on getting the actual bios dumped from the bios loader.

How would we go about doing that? I'll get it for the 7900 GS.

Well it MAY be possible but from what I saw the card just cleared the top of the connector.

However until we can get the bios to work with the new cards I'd wait on physically modding this part because it is not neccassary to get the laptop booting. When we get it working then I will customize that part so that the power button will have full functionality.

You could always solder the wires to the pins and have a fully functioning system.

Yes but you would have issues taking apart the unit later to add in the new Geforce 8800/8900 cards if you hard wired it by soldering.

The best way to do it is to create another inline connector to allow disassmebly.

Lets get these BIOS issues resolved!!!

Dang....I can't see the pics...my isp administrator in Iran seems to think they're bad for me....such is life. Good thing I have a good imagination.

Just a thought but coud you trim the actual card with a Dremel tool to allow the card to fit and still be able to connect the power connectors. Fom looking at the pics there doesn't seem to much underneath the metal top piece, so why not just trim the Crad itself instead of rewiring and soldering a new connector.
I think that would be majorly scary

Those cards are brittle. One crack, and the board will split, screwing the traces. Dealing with the plug seems a much safer and secure route.

Great pics! For those of you that are nervous. This is literally the easiest soldering job you can possibly get. Seriously even a particularly stupid monkey could do it!

Good trail blazing Corn. Oh and youre stripping the hell out of your screws. Its time to look for replacements.
