So I just got a Lenovo Yoga 13. This is my review.
As what I primarily do is writing and programming, having a good keyboard is critical for me, which is why a tablet alone can’t work for me, and...
I have owned dozens of laptops in a variety of brands, and had many different laptops provided for my use at work. Without question, this is the finest I have owned. The Alienware M17x R2 is a...

One of the longest and most enduring brands in computers is Thinkpad. Originally developed by IBM in the USA, Thinkpad notebook computers are now...
The problem is the computer bios, not the videocard bios...I guess theres a slight chance of being able to fool the computer into thinking its another card but probably only within the os
How much did you sell it for? Would someone really buy a Xps2 when there is alot of better laptops out there now? I feel like I'm trying to cheap someone...
Mine sold on ebay for 1150 That was about a month and a half ago. ou should get slightly more for an xps2. They were going for 1200 -1400 depending on the specs. Throw it up for fun with a reserve price. That's what I did. I really didn't expect someone to hit my reserve but it happened.
Humor me, and explain why not. The PC guy seemed to think the core2's and the centrino's used the same socket. If there's a BIOS issue, it should be similar issue to this video card issue. Is it vaguely possible that the BIOS issue we're now facing is part of the AML code?

Hate to say this but my understanding is that they are not the same socket and therefore you will need a core duo motherboard like the 6400 or 9400 to allow the core 2 to work
Just asking for opinion..should I wait around some more to see if this mod is ever going to work, or try to sell my xps m170, put some money with it, and buy a xps m1710?

If you wait a month or two more the new Santa rosa platform laptops should be out
does anyone know if the 1710 motherboard will fit in the XPS gen2 chasis?
i see the board for sale on ebay (350)...plus a 7950 video card is about 350
plus whatever dual core CPU..cheaper than a new laptop
i have hd playing on my xps gen 2 through a xbox 360 hd-dvd player, but the frame rate is a little choppy - maybe 20 fps...would i get more FPS by flashing the bios and overclocking my 7800gtx or upgrading my cpu from 2.0 -> 2.26 GHZ since its not overclockable...thanks!
I would think a stock 7800gtx is more than capable of playing hd-dvd but I'm no expert. I think I ran one of those blu-ray tests before and it tried to tell me my 2.0 pm was not good enough...The p-m is always underrated though. When playing the video, check your cpu load. If its 100% constant, then you can benefit from a cpu upgrade. However, I couldnt recommend you going from 2.0 to 2.26. It wouldn't be worth the time or money. You would have to go and mod a 1.8 400 mhz p-m to be 2.4 ghz. Even this wouldn't be a tremendous performance increase but it will help.
