Is the Ati Mobility Radeon x1400 256MB much better than the 128MB version?

Hi I am thinking of getting an Acer Aspire 5672WLMi and have seen a good deal for the top model including built in tv tuner. I believe it has a 256MB x1400 instead of the 128MB version. I would ideally like to get the 5672 with X1600 but it isn't out in the UK. Although I know the x1400 isn't a very good graphics card do you think the 256MB version is much better than the 128MB version and will it play games like Doom3, COD2 and FEAR and other upcoming titles on lowered settings?

I think the 128mb X1600 will easily pwn the X1400, remember that an even an X1600 64mb would beat an X1400 256mb because the X1600 is 50% faster.

That proves it, the X1400 is basically an X600, so its practically the same comparison.

So an x1800 with 128MB is better than an x1400 with 256MB then yeah?

I meant an x1600 with 128MB is better than an x1400 with 256MB? That too right?

I'd say they're close, with the Radeon coming out on top.

My bro has a Toshiba A100 -188 and gets 3900ish 3Dmarks.
I have the Acer Travelmate 8204WLMi with the X1600 and i get 5500 3Dmarks. not even in the same ballpark

5500??? I couldn't get more than 4985 without artifacts... 5200-something was the highest I've seen so far... How did you get this score?

The x1600 surely must be better than the Geforce Go 7600. Do you think there is not a lot in it?

um.. if you can get the x1600 go for that, and if you have to wait.. just wait. I have the x1400.. and it is nothing compared to the x1600's that i have seen.

How much of an overclock are you using?! There is no way that you got a 5500 on 3Dmark05 unless you are overclocking drastically. Was it 3Dmark03? My sager (9880) had a 6800 Ultra 256MB DDR3 and I barely got 5200-5300 on 3Dmark05 (stock clocks). My friends Sager has a 7800 in it and doesnt get much better than than. The X1600 in my new HP 8430 gets 3800 non-overclocked.
