I read it somewhere there is other kinds of drivers for the x1400 that is better than the original. What was the name and which one is the better one for gaming?

You probably read about the omega drivers or the dhzeropoint ones. I've heard that the dhzeropoint ones are better but I had problems with the screen not turning off with the lid closed with them. Omega drivers run fine but for me the performance gain is relatively minimal. I find that the main advantage with the omega drivers is just that you can get the most recent ati drivers without having to wait for dell to release one.

http://www.ati.com/online/mobilecatalyst/

The latest Mobility Catalyst should work just fine...

Does it? How is the performance on them? Because ati doesnt list the x1400 as one of the supported cards for their mobility catalyst download. Nor does it list Dell as one of the supported manufacturers.

I just use the latest driver from ATI for Raedon (not Mobility Raedon) rather than Dell's driver. I am using Castalyst Control Center 6.5

yea those two drivers was what I was talkin about. I heard ppl overclock their x1400 with these drivers. It seems like dhzeropoint ones are better, any fix for that yet?

dhzeropoint gave me a bunch of problems, use omega instead

Has anyone tested the performance of the latest mobility drivers from ATI? I'm curious as to how they perform since ATI's release notes say that the ones from their website do not support the Dell manufactured ones nor the X1400 series.

I have installed catalyst control center 6.5 in my 6400. No problem uptill now. I have problem on using Pro-Engineer with Omega driver.

I can't stand CCC (pictured above), even though they've improved it since it's debut... I prefer Omega's with the Control Panel instead, they work great for me, always have.

Omega doesn't work with my Pro-Engineer and I don't game. CCC is okay for me.
