7900GTX/M1710 Overclocking for Idiots Bootdisk Included! *DOUBLE FAULT* Destroyed! - Page 8

OK, I have spent some time trying may different combinations and here are my results:

500/600 - 8356
600/700 - 9411
625/725 - 9590
625/750 - 9600

I am sitting at 600/700 right now and everything is running nice and stabl and relatively cool. I found that going back to the newest Dell drivers has increased my 3DMark05 scores...weird.

can i use this image for my xxodd notebook? I tried it but i got an error when i typed nvflash 550c650.rom
post #146 of 199
You should be able to use NibTor and just make your own rom, with your own customized clocks, for example thats what i did to flash mine, there wasent a 625C740.rom so i just made one, try it, i dont see why it wouldnt work as long as your flashing an Nvidia based GPU it should work.

these are the errors or warnings when i type nvflash XXXCXXX.rom

"NVIDIA Firmware Update Utility (Version 5.31)

Checking for matches between display adapter(s) and image(s)...

Adapter: GeForce Go 7900 GTX (10DE,0299,1558,0571) B:01,PCI,D:00,F:00
WARNING: Firmware image PCI Subsystem ID (1028.019B)
does not match adapter PCI Subsystem ID (1558.0571).
WARNING: Firmware image Board ID (7107) does not match adapter Board ID (710A).

ERROR: PCI subsystem ID mismatch"

Is the problem the memorysize of my graphicscard (256mb)? Or don't i have the correct motherboard or bios for this bootdisk?

If i need to use nvflash and nibtor instead of this bootdisk, could someone tell me where i can find a mirror and tutorial site for it?

That sounds like an ID Mismatch trying to use a different rom for a different card. But i could be wrong.

I have had my 7900gtx OC'ed at 580/700. With ATITool and 600/700 I get pixel errors. Ex. 'Delta of 128 in 2 pixels (64.00 avg.). I won't get this for a few mins. Then after that I might get a similar message every 10 secs or 1min. Temp isn't that high either. Maybe around 70 when it happens.

Do you think I should change back to a lower clock?
I get artifacts in atitool, but all games and benchmarking tools always work fine for me, and i play some games for hours and never have any single errors, artifacts or too high temps and I'm at 625\740, I do get artifacts in atitools but on the bottom it stays saying no errors, i dont know if thats the same thing tho.
Yeah I get a beep then the delta error in the bottom left. The timer then resets to 0 and starts counting again.

I played FEAR multiplayer which is graphics intensive at 600/700 for like 20mins and didn't come across any problems.

I just tried 590/700 and scored 9561 in 3dmark05. I also ran ATITool for a short 5mins and didn't get any errors.

The highest of been able to get this card is 640\750 but scores acctually were lower, I think 640 is just over doing the core at 1.24v, i could probably run fine at 630 or 635 but why push it when it wont get that much gain plus the core at 625 gives me a max temp that I feel safe about. depending on the game most max out at 81'-86' except condemend thats the only game that averages a max of 86-88, And i have played some games up to 3 hours, so by now i wouldnt of seen problems if any. Somewhere on this froum someone wrote about someone setting the volts to 1.38 and were able to get some crazy 700\770, i think thats what they had written, and then never wrote anything on it again, so I dont know if that was true or not, I myself went up to 1.31 and didnt make a single difference from 1.24, I tried 650 and it didnt work it froze up before temps even hit 70', so i'm happy with where i am at.
if i try to oc my core above 550 and my mem above 750 in the control center and try to apply it, my core goes back to the last clock settings. Do you guys have that same problem or don't you have?
You cannot OC your card in a windows environment. Check the first page of this thread.
How do I get mine back to 500/600? There is not a ROM on the boot CD that has those speeds.
I remember seeing a DEFAULT.ROM on the cd. Not entirely sure though.
Ah-ha...it's Original.rom...THANKS!

The only cards that can hold an overclock thru software like coolbits or any 3rd party software are the standard 6800 and 7800 vanilia, the 7800GTX,7900GS, & 7900GTX you need to flash everytime you want a new overclock.

I just got an interesting e-mail from a distributor I buy from about merom chips. There is an Architecture flaw on engineering sample T7400 with power consumption. It was originally thought it was something that could be fixed with bios updates, but apparently it’s in the ES chip itself. The real mainstream OEM and retail chips have this problem fixed. Dell has merom chips as an option now on most of their laptops, and with no real new bios update. He also told me that Intel is actually cracking down on people selling ES chips, even removing ads on eBay with people trying to sell ES chips. Apperantly Intel dosent want these ES samples being sold at all. Funny thing also is how some people are trying to sell the ES chips so high, they should have had MSRP of $299 for ES chips and Retail MSRP is $432.00, now I don’t know if this fact or fiction but it would explain why people are seeing power consumption issues with their laptops after putting in a ES T7400 in the E1705, especially when the Bios A02 is a merom ready bios. I think I’ll wait another month or so and just by a Retail version.
