Thanks my man (in a totally metaphorical/heterosexual sense)

I just had to rewrite it.

Oh well....

I am going to take a stab at over clocking and was wondering (althought I think its a dumb question) if all of this will work the same even if I have Vista installed?

Thanks for the tip! but it keep on telling me wrong ID then wrong index which can be bypass with -5 -6 then it say wrong board ID and don't allow me to switch back to 7950 >< any idea?
use -4 -5 -6...hmm, I thought that using the 7950 bios on a 7900 would black screen you but the other way around works? I always thought flashing bioses was one to one

Hi do you know of a bios utils which will allow me to enable/set the bios on Dell XPS M1710 2,33G 7600 to allow me to use the Virtualisation support.

While in the bios there is a tab which allows you to set , but it doesn,t save it. Dell aren't being very useful...

I recently just OCed my NVidia GeForce Go 7900GTX from 500/600 to 600/750.

Everything runs fine, although I DO get Artifacts in ATITool, but my games and everything runs fine.

The only problem is, when I try and open a Steam Game (DOD, CS, CSS, etc.), there's a scratchy blue/green screen that pops up before, and I have to ALT+TAB into Windows, and back into the Game.

After I do that, it's gone, and it runs flawlessly.

Is that really a problem? Should I downgrade the clock? I'm about to run some 3DMARK05 Tests on it to see what I get.

One more thing, my idle temps for my Dell XPS M1710 are 45/60 WITH the Overclock, on a wooden desk. I'm thinking of getting a Spire Pacific Breeze Laptop Cooler to help move the air around, and I'll be opening up my XPS (MAYBE!) to clean it out with some compressed air . Also, I'm about to get a new desk, which is Glass, so hopefully my temperatures will drop!

I'll reply ASAP with my scores!

i'm confused....I am getting ready to put a 7900 512mb GTX in a E1705, and I've got the TweaksMobile 94.20 drivers, the 130w power brick and a cup of coffee. After the hardware install, I'm going to do a fresh install of XP Pro.

My question is:

What do I need to be able to overclock it and get the values to stick (without having to reset after every reboot?)

I've searched and read and searched and read, and am even more confused now.

A. I read about buring a .rom file onto a CD to flash the GPU bios?!?! Is this still the best way to do it?

B. Then there's coolbits registry addition, RivaTuner, ATITool....Are any of these neccessary, and if so which one & why? Or is the NV control panel capable of OC'ing?

Coolbits and any other high-level overclocking mechanism will not work without a "unlocked" bios. So you need to flash that first and then you can use any software-based solution.

Hey guys,

I'm planning on OCing my 7900GTX tonight but I wanted to run a benchmark first. Is there one in particular that people tend to use more? And when I run it, do I need to close all apps? Fresh restart?

Also, I can't get i8kfangui to install on my Vista x64. Any help?

Is there a better driver for this GPU? My BIOS is currently 005.071.022.016.017.000

TIA

EDIT
I'm using 3Dmark06 for benchmarking and I got i8kfangui to work.
Now when I boot with my burned CD, I choose option 2 and hit enter. Then I get an "ABORTED" message and then "Press any key to continue...". Then it goes to A:\

Whats going on??

I am a newbie at this, so bare with me.

in essence, to overclock my 7900gtx all i need to do is boot with the cd from the first post and select the option i want to test? That simple?

Second, on an m1710, which would be an adequate option to select? that way I can avoid frying my card

By the way, i have an m1710 2ghtz core duo, with 7900gtx and 2 gigs ram.

M1710 / 9700GTX OC temps???

Hi,
I soon get the m1710 2ghtz core duo, with 7900gtx and 4 gigs ram.
Well i think i will OC to 600/700 (seems to be stable).
Should i have any worries about the temperatures????

one more question...

m1710 2ghtz core duo, with 7900gtx and 4 gigs ram.

1.i will oc to 600/700...ok i got that one

Is there anything else do to? I mean that after OC the 7900gtx is no more bottleneck and there is not much to do? Is the processor then the one that slows down?

The T7600G processor is the fastest you can go, The "G" processor can be over clocked via the M1710 BIOS.

just keep in mind when you OC the GPU watch the Temps and check for artifacts and if you see any problems reduce the OC a little.

I ad my 7900GTX running 600/800 and used IKFANGU to keep the fans on High when gaming.
