Oh, I see...so you're using something like Notebook Hardware Control to force the CPU to stay downclocked to ~1Ghz for the entire 3dmark run? That's pretty clever...but I think that DRASTIC of a lowering is REALLY going to affect the score; whereas the paltry ~33 Mhz difference between your CPU (1.83) and mine (2.16) would seem too small to make much difference...say, maybe 100-300 3dmarks or something...maybe 500 at the outside...but ~1000?
We still haven't had someone with the 2.16 CPU and only 1GB of RAM report over 9000, have we? If it is possible for this to happen, then we definitely know the CPU is at fault, I think...someone correct me if my logic is wrong, here. I know the new Intel chips (Yonah and Merom) are supposed to be more powerful clock-for-clock than the P4, but 33Mhz making THAT much difference in a primarily graphics-oriented app is pretty incredible...if that's really the case, I can't wait to get my hands on a Merom clocked up to 2.3 or something!
