I have recently been having a problem where my screen goes to stripes like a test pattern image changing several times before locking up the computer. It boots up and Windows XP gets a chance to load so I can start to run my programs but it soon fails within 4 to 10 minutes. It won't allow to reboot imediately but once it cools it seems to re-start again just fine.
I have read online of other owners that experienced this with this laptop and they elected to change out the motherboard on the suspicision of a video board problem, but had no luck. My suspicision is that something on the board is overheating, and although my cooling fan is working at start up, nothing is working properly when it locks up. Has anyone cracked this problem with the 450's? Is there a component which needs to be modified for better cooling or treated with some heat sink compound?
This machine has not been abused and is treated more like a desktop than a laptop. It always was a warm runner but in 4 years it hasn't failed me until now. Any help or direction will be greatly appreciated.
