Notebook + Public Highshool?

Hi guys, I'm gonna do an highshool exchange to USA, in a public highschool and I'm thinking use notebook. Someone could tell me if there is any "problem"? Or, if isn't commom in a public highschool...?

What about an 17" notebook based? =P

Depending on the highschool you may or may not be able to use the laptop in class. In some highschools the like people to have laptops, some do not allow it.

I would call the school that you are doing the exchange with and see if they allow the use of laptops in class. I know in my highschool, I was unable to use it in mosts class, the only one that I was able to use it in was my CCNA, and A+ cert classes.

As for using a 17" notebook, that is a rather large computer to carry from class to class, It is up to you whether or not you want to carry something like that.

13/14 maybe 15.4 is a better size

I have never seen/heard of anyone at a public high school use a laptop in class, and I know why. You being a new foreign kid is gonna be tough enough to fit in with the stuck up american kids, and by bringin a laptop to every single one of ur classes is not gonna help...

You will need a laptop/computer to do some of ur work, but not in class, especially not in public schools. If u were goin to some private parochial then maybe.

in my highschool in texas [vrhs] quite a few people have laptops. theyre allowed with office permission in most classes. theyre allowed in the library at any time.

as for the size, i would reccommend a 15" or 12/13" because to carry a 17" around will become too tedious.

as with piemaster, in my highschool (private) there were many people with laptops but very few brought them to school, and i can only remember 1 guy who brought a 17". Maybe if it was a very small laptop (12"-14") it would be easy and fun to carry, but you will probably not use it. Unless you are a senior or happen to find the computer-crowd, most people will think it is strange.

I brought my laptop to school (15.4') to have mini LAN parties once in a while but never needed or wanted to carry it because it was too heavy.

yeah, a few people in my school own lappys, and some (myself included) bring them from time to time, but certainly dont use it very much during class though. for instance.., i'll see them in the cafeteria, during study hall, etc, but not in class since pen + paper is still the best way to take notes

At my highschool, i diddn't really know anyone with a laptop. Never saw them in school, either.

No thx.

I would say dont bring your laptop to HS. Only bring it if needed for presentations or if you can safely use it without being attacked. Usually the amount of notes can be done on paper and laptops to teachers are massive distractions.

I think if He brings a laptop to class, He will get beaten up and have it taken from him. If you get here and realize that your going to need a laptop computer, I would wait until then to purchase one. Most laptops are heavy and cumbersome to carry around. Most computer science classes have classroom models that you can use. Just pack a jump drive to transfer files.

electronics seem to be a very popular target for thieves in high school

The sad truth, if its of value, you risk losing it. Not that anyne will punk you for it in the bathroom, but they may break into your car, locker, or backpack.
