processor and video card comparisons

Hey everyone
I am having some trouble deciding whether I should purchase a desktop or laptop from Dell and I was wondering if you guys could clear things up for me. I am leaning towards an e1705, but XPS400 is appealing too.
Where I would really like to have a laptop for its portability, I have found an XPS 400 for slightly cheaper with some better components. What I need help with is comparing the processor and video cards of the two.
I found a really good comparison of the ATI Radeon X1900 XTX and the NVIDIA GeForce 7900 GTX, but I couldn't find how the NVIDIA GeForce Go 7900 GS competed with the two. I would also like to know how much better the Pentium D Processor 930 with Dual Core Technology performs than the Intel Core Duo Processor T2500
If anyone could answer these questions it would make my decision much easier. Thanks a lot!

(Keep in mind, if I go with the desktop, I'd have to share it with my parents)

I think that a Pentium D dual core clocked around 2.8 GHz actually offers roughly the same performance as a 2.0GHz Core Duo.

If not, then it's definitely close. Pretty strange seeing mobile processors having parity with desktop ones, but that's only in the interim, even the cheapest conroes will easily outperform both of them. Of course the mobiles will once again gain ground on desktops when merom is released tho...

I saw a benchmark where the 2 GHz core duo killed the 3.4 GHz pentium D.
