number of fans?

I own an M170 with a 7800 GTX. Now using ATI tool and Nvidia's control panel I see that my temperature for the video card has gone up drastically. I idle around 71 degrees celsius now. If I use fan control to monitor my fans, now I see if I manually set the fans on high I can hear the left fan where the CPU is spin, however the fan on the right side for the video card I can't hear spin up at all. Is there a fan on the right side? Since in Fan control I see that the RPM increases for the second fan if I turn it on high, but no sound whatsoever, hmm can it be broken, I don't want to open up the case since I still have warranty and has only had the XPS 6 months. Any help is greatly appreciated.

I'll leave out any sarcastic remarks because you sound worried, but under any other circumstance...

Anyway, you can actually see the fan blades on both fans. So you should be able to see both fans spinning.

So, if you can see the fan blades sitting all still like... then it doesn't work.

he he no problem with any sarcastic remark Yeah I looked at them they spin, though you should feel air blowing out on the right side too where the GPU is located. I don't feel that as much as it does on the left side of the laptop. Well I could probably get compressed air and use that. However was hoping to hear if anyone has had the same problem and got their laptop basically replaced

...Every few months you should blow the vents out with compressed air, the memory "vents" as well... I do that once I start seeing my temps go up a bit & it usually solves the problem

Oh by the way I bought this laptop in December and guess I was disappointed when I read that Dell was going to release a new XPS just a few months after got mine for the same bucks as I ordered mine for. Is there someway to get the other XPS by returning this one? I guess it's no way do to that. I'm very comfortable with my M170 but would of course have prefered a dual core one.

I agree i blast my hearsinks once a week as it will prevent dust from building up. And also make a big difference as if you do it on a regular basis the whole inside of the laptop will remain dust free. it is just good practice and preventive maintanance. Some laptops if you let it go too long you must physically take the laptop apart to clean the heatsinks as it melts all the dust and all in and just keeps building up.
