Apple screwed a lot of people over—myself included—with their Cram and Jam promotion.
All the posters and ads said buy a laptop and an iPod before a certain date and you would get a 200 dollar rebate. What they didn't tell you was that you had to buy the laptop and the iPod at the same time and, even though the end date to turn the rebate forms in was at the end of November, you only had 30 days from the day you bought the laptop and iPod to turn the rebate in.
When I first heard about it I saw it on a poster at my school and it said nothing about having to buy them together or that you had to send the forms in within 30 days after buying. I later found out about the 30 day thing and, since I procrastinate, just got the rebate request in by the skin of my teeth. A couple days later I get a letter saying my rebate was denied because I needed to buy them at the same time.
I called Apple and they tried to tell me that the information should've been on the poster I saw, and when I told them repeatedly that the poster said nothing else they tried to tell me that I would've seen it on the website. Well, yeah, you do see it on the website, but you had to click the ad to get to the fine print while the ads themselves said the same thing as the poster.
I honestly hate Apple as a company. Love their products but hate Apple itself. For a company that prides itself on being so different it's not...it's exactly the same as every other company out there. They don't care who they screw over...the terms of the agreement were in the fine print! Completely mislead people by putting in bold type on the front "buy this and this before this date and get money back!!!!!!!!!!" and then, on a black poster, put 30 lines of 4 point type in dark gray with the terms and conditions contradicting the bold text.
I know several people who were screwed over by the Cram and Jam promotion. Way to go Apple.
