Acer show the first pics of Ferrari 5000 series!

Turion64 X2 + X1600 256MB + 256 Hypermemory + HD Momentus 5400.3 160GB + HD-DVD drive!!!

It's very beautiful, a Ferrari 4000 with the chassis of TM8204...

Further there is also a compact 12,1'' called Ferrari 1000.

It's very interesting!

It has also a Bluetooth VOIP phone (such as the TM 8200) and an integrated webcam.

It looks like it's gonna blow hot air into right hand the same way as TM8200 does. I'm curious, what kind of screen did they mount...

yes, I think the chassis is the same of the TM8200.
However, it mount the WSXGA 1680x1050 glossy screen of Acer 8100, 8200 and Ferrari 4000 series. Probably it's manifactured by Samsung.

None of those WSXGA+ screen were glossy. As far as I know, there were three types: LTN (Samsung), QD and third one manufactured by LG... I'm wondering which one was mounted here, cause first two had some issues... BTW, is there anyone with Phillips/LG WSXGA+ LCD in his notebook?

sorry, I'm Italian and so I have confused "glossy" with "opaque" However, also I know there are 2 types of screens, manifactured by Samsung or by LG-Philips, the third type I don't know... So I think also Ferrari 5000 use the same screen.... However I have a Samsung LTN TFT on my Ferrari 4005 and it's perfect!

I sorta wonder if it will have the curved keyboard as well. That'd be really sweet hehe.
So, will Acer be officially announcing the Ferrari 5000 @ Computex in a few weeks?

Is the entire case of the 5000 made of carbon fibre or, like the 4000 series, is it just the lid that is carbon fibre?
same material shit as ferrari 4005 but it has 8200 design.

nothing too impressive as it should of been, just updated specs.

new cpu, new graphics card, (was doh expected) and hd-dvd is a plus.. thats about it!

Doubtful that it is the whole case, because of the expense (and the fact it would require significant retooling). Chances are that it is just the lid, the same as in the 8204WLMI on which it is based.

What were you expecting?

Incidentally, it isn't even a new graphics card - it is the same one that's used in the 8204WLMI.

But then, the Ferrari 4000 was just a rebaged TravelMate 8100 with an AMD processor in it, and the Ferrari 3000 was just a rebadged Aspire 1450.

So - why the surprise?

Very nice.

I'm looking forward to adding a Merom to my 8204 when it's available... Then I'll line up against a Ferarri 5000 and see who's quicker. ;-)

Latest internal rumors (and remember that this is only a rumor so don't kill me if it did pan out) is that production units my leave China within 2-3 weeks. The US office will probably not see a engineering sample (so no early photos) since Taiwan have already signed off on the engineering sample they received. In the mean time, I'll see if I can nail down the the spec for the U.S. bounded models.

Great stuff. Any idea if both the 1000 and 5000 will be coming to the US? (Or will we just be getting the top model, in much the same way as there are three Ferrari LCDs but the US only gets one model)?
