$4000 is way too high and I think that is wrong. The above link states:

"Both black Ferrari lines - the 12.1-inch 1000 and 15.4-inch 5000 models - will each be priced at about 2,000 euros (US$2,543), said the company."

Also, I am glad to see that that the Ferrari 5000 is soon to be released. Once it is, how long does it usually take before people start writing reviews about it? I think I want to buy this model but want to wait and see what other have to say about it first.

You should see reviews in early August on tech sites like laptoplogic and CNet's video review probably mid to late August.

It's also supposed to be $1000 more than the Ferrari 5000.

Well that's disappointing also. Looks like I'll have to buy an m90 and send it to smooth creations... I'll post in the gallery if I ever get that project finished.

Geforce 7400 VX. According to Cnet review it scores 1400+ 3DMarks'06 which is about twice the power of a normal 7400 of about 700 3DMarks '06. The VX model of the 7400 is special... Its not the same power as the x1600 which scores around 2000 3DMark'06 but its not bad.

The chasis looks better IMO.
Its a lot lighter at 5.5lbs.
It's 1inch thin.
15.1" 1400x1050
The only let down is the pricetag.

I also think the chassis looks better on the Asus, and the weight is a definite plus, it's definitely the video card and the pricetag that would prevent me from purchasing one. The 7400 VX is an OK card, but not for the time. We've had the X1600 card for 8 months or so and a 7400 VX is a step backwards. I guess if you don't need to run the newest games at the highest settings/resolution it gets the job done. But video card aside, its $1000 - $1500 more than the Ferrari 5000 which is superior spec-wise.

But if you don't want to run the newest games, why buy a Ferrari? I thought it was supposed to be geared towards the 'fast' gamer crowd? Maybe they're only going for people who think 'on-line poker' and 'pc gaming' are the same thing (I kid you not, guy on the radio was talking about the two like they were the same thing, I think he doesn't even know games like Far Cry etc etc exist). Basically, it's a gimmick. If you have the cash to purchase something just for showing off, A) that's cool go for it, and B) send me some dough please?

Yeah....I used to be hyped about getting a Ferrari 5000....but after seeing the specs and the price tag it comes with, I'm starting to have second thoughts...
I think I'm going to pass on it for different reasons. I really like my ferrari 4005, but ati video is killing me as I'm a linux user. I'm thinking of getting the Asus z92t (a6t for those in Europe), which has a turion x2 and nvidia 7600. I was told by an Asus rep that it would be in the US by August.
I see. I'm looking at the z62t too. Seems to be an interesting laptop.
Well this sure is a let down especialy at that price. I was gonna pick up a Ferrari 1000's when it came out figureing it'd be about 1,800$ ish but man that new price is rediculous...
I agree. $2500+ US is expensive for the specs that come with the Ferrari 1000. If it even had an X300 Video Card so light gaming was possible it would be better.

Lol, just buy the laptop with specs you want from Asus or Dell or something and send it to smooth creations and get a cool paint job for $400-600 give or take. When I get my m90, I want to send it in for a Ford GT paint job

Hold the phone. This joint, whom I've ordered from before, they're legit, says that they have the Ferrari 5006 for $2100. That's much more reasonable. For some reason, they don't put any info or specs on their website, I bet they'd sell a lot more if they did...

And the Ferrari 1004 at $1800

Yeah....I doubt Acer would be so dumb as to price their new laptop at $3000+ No one would buy that lol. Atleast I wouldn't! =D
But if its for 2100 then I'm TOTALLY game!

It also says the shipping weight is "1 lbs."

I think the Ferrari is going to go on sale soon!!!

I typed in "LX.FR506.119" on google and received the following pages:

PCMail.com - $2,389.99

Clubmac.com - $2,189.99

Pcsuperstore.com - $2,176.38

MacMall.com - $2,189.99

OnSale.com - $2,109.99

MacMall.com (again but cost more?) - $2,389.99

Buy.com - $2,178.03

When do you think these sites will begin to ship?
I suppose it'd be safe to just not get a price in our heads and wait until they're actually in "now shipping" status. Even at $2100, I'd rather go with something else, but if newegg has it for $1900 or something... aaaaah I might do it. It's less of a rape than Alienware prices.
