Ah I understand! Yes, Smart Card isn´t listed in the german presentation too! Only Express Card it has, but thats an other thing, I know!

I thought the smart card was for security purposes?

Well it looks very sexy but isn't it basically the same thing as a travelmate 8204 with an amd cpu? Granted, it was the same with the ferrari 4k and the travelmate 8104. Personally I prefer the travelmate series since they are much cheaper.

As for amd vs. intel, although the athlon processors successfully kick pentium 4's into oblivion, turions and centrino systems are surprisingly well matched. They seem to perform on games and things about the same (pM gets like 2fps more generally but what difference does that really make?), but the pentium M seems to get a slightly longer battery life when doing processor intensive activities such as games while the Turion gets a very slightly longer battery when doing low power things like internet browsing or word processing. This doesn't really matter much, as when playing games, one is most likely going to be plugged in anyways.

I guess it really comes down if you want to spend the extra couple hundred $$$ to get a fancy ferrari symbol on it. Both computers are made of win. One thing I must say about both series is I <3 the screen. 1680*1050 is lots of lovely pixel space for coding. And since my 8104 can run the newest games (bf2, cs:s, even oblivion runs pretty good) on high or near maxed this 'un prolly can completely max them out with no problem.

hey my 8104 is quoted at getting .5hrs more battery so there! also may I note that the hot fan is on the left side.

Acer Ferrari 1000 review here is good but not glowing:

The Sony TX3XP/TX850 got better review on that same site.

It can be had cheaper here:

Then there's the Asus S6F:

Quite expensive though.

Think I'll wait and see if Apple puts a dedicated GPU and Merom into the Macbook September 12th.

Wow, Ferrari 4000 wonder how happy Ferrari 4000 owners are with their purchase, especially since I noticed this review:

Guess they have no need to upgrade.
