For only $200 less, the Asus has:
* Core Duo T2400 instead of Core Duo T2500
* 14" WXGA instead of 15.4" WSXGA
* 1GB of RAM instead of 2GB
* 100GB HDD instead of 120GB HDD
* Optional Bluetooth instead of standard Bluetooth
* VGA only instead of VGA and DVI ports
* 3 USB ports instead of 4 USB ports
* No PC card slot instead of Type-II PC card slot
* 5 instant launch keys instead of 4 instant launch keys
* No webcam instead of webcam built in
* No Bluetooth phone instead of bundled Bluetooth phone
* 83-key instead of 88-key keyboard
* No physical switches for WLAN / Bluetooth, vs. physical switches for both
* 34mm less wide, 24mm less deep, but 6.4mm thicker
* 4.4lbs with 4-cell or 4.9lbs with 8-cell, vs. 6.6lbs with 9-cell battery
So, yes - it is smaller and lighter (although that's because it has a significantly smaller screen, which you failed to mention). However, you also get a *lot* less for your money, including some items that will be show-stoppers for many of us (no PC card, no DVI).
Yes, the Asus W3J is probably a good laptop for some people - but it is not a rival to the Acer 8204WLMi by any level of comparison.
