Core2Duo Macbook Pro Release Date

Thread Starter
Hey guys,

I'm waiting out for the Core2Duo (Merom) Macbook Pro and from what I hear, It'll be announced in August. I was wondering if based on previous annoucements/releases of new products from Apple, will the Macbook Pro be released around the same date as when it was announced or will there be a one - two month wait?

No one knows...Apple is secretive about their release dates. I wouldn't hold your breath waiting for an instant release once it is announced. Apple still has the PowerMacs to update. Based on past history, I'd think it will be a while...but, who knows what deal Apple has with Intel. The earliest I'd expect to see any major MacBook Pro upgrades is late in the year (if then), but just a guess.

shazza,

While I know you're right, I hope that we hear something on/around WWDC. It kinda makes cents that we could. Many on other forums make good arguments that the MBP revision will makes its' show at WWDC. I think it really depends on Intel, as well. If Intel can supply the chips, perhaps Apple, w/ its new business plan (based on Intel) will deliver. I think a MBP w/ Merom could be most awesome.

I will buy a MPB w/ Merom when its released but I'm expecting it much later than the Intel announcement. I'd say it will be a similar time to the release of Leopard. So until that day I will play with my MacBook.

well, since there hasn't been any real talk about it from the usual websites, it isn't anytime soon. But, when they do start talking about it I am sure it will be released shortly. They'll probably upgrade the PowerMacs first, if not introduce the core 2 duo's in them along with the "one more thing...." being the MBP.

Well, there is speculation from the "usual" sites....at least the forum portions. Since my MBP went tits-up, I'm going to try & pick up a 12" PB to tide me over until the advent of the MBP Rev 2.

Thanks for asking.....yeah, after a little time, Apple refunded my purchase entirely. When I say "a little time," it was just jumping through the red-tape of Apple heirarchy in order to get to the right person. They were cool about everything....
