N3510 Problems

I own a N3510 but I seem to be having many issues. I was wondering if anybody else have had these problems....

1.) Optical Disk Drive does not pick up data CDs and DVDs anymore. Can the drive be bad or just dirty?
2.) My laptop gets very hot and I believe my PC is overheating. It used to run pretty quick but now it sometimes stops functioning completely and applications do not respond. "My Computer" does not respond at times.
3.) My icons dissappear and reappear as though it did a refresh of the screen. The icons show up very slowly.

I think I just need to get the optical drive repaired but the other problems I'm not sure what it is. I have adware software and registry repair and I defrag occasionally. I don't have much during startup so I don't think it's a software issue but a hardware issue. Can my hard drive be bad? Or maybe my memory? What are some things I can do to check to see what's the problem or even fix it myself? Any information would help. Thanks!

yeah man, I dont know if its coinsidence, but my n3500 has similar problems randomly. It gets pretty hot sometimes - even when all im doing is just some browsing or listening to music. Lately, Ive been getting the icon screen problem too, it happens when i drop an explorer window - I have to do a force restart sometimes (hold power button). And my cd burner is being a little punk ass - it only burns when it feels like it, it will either fail operations during burns or the cd wont start burning at all until various attempts. I dont know what it is, but i bought mine used, ive been thinking of taking it back for defects (i had the keyboard replaced once, the cd problem, and my mouse buttons are really stiff, they need to be pushed kinda hard for them to click...i dont know, i'll see if i get around to taking it back. good luck with yours.

i had to send my n3510 back under international warranty for a new combo drive - the old one failed completely. took 3 months. since gone down with keyboard, usb and now motherboard problems. i've had 4 fujitsu laptops, never again.
