Almost got the M1710

But...

ROFL, i just ordered an Alienware Aurora m9700, I was thinking about getting the M1710, or the 9400/E1705 but I realized that the difference is actaully pretty minimal from my current 9300 on steroids. I mean if I'm going to spend 2,000 dollars on a new notebook I'd like that notebook to be drasitcally differnt from my current. So I went down the Alienware route, I hope the road leads to good things, but who knows. It's my frist Alienware and I guess I'll be moving over to the Alienware section, . I really wanted SLI, over dualcore processor, I value graphics > processing power. But I still get a AMD turion 64-Bit. My first 64 bit processor as well, everything is differnt with this laptop, let's hope my experiance with it is just as good as dell's. LOL

Hate to see you leave us.

Let us know about any AW customer service experience that you might have.
Good luck.

May the (Ge)Force be with you.

Yup, good luck on the new laptop. If things go well, that is one hell of a system and you should enjoy it quite a bit. I for one like AMD chips a lot and the style on that system is quite nice.

What configuration did you get? I think a 7900 Go GTX > SLi 7900 GS and almost in all cases a single card configuration is advantageous to SLi since you do not have to deal with profiles. IMO you should've just gotten an M1710.

Edit: Just checked their estimated date for shipping, July 10! Ouch.

We'll know for sure when we can actually run some tests on M9700

No they said I should get mine by June 20 something. But the GTX might be a better card, but the laptops are just so identical. I mean Dell basically modifies the motherboard just enough to put in the new processor, which in part changes up the videocard, and then BAM!!! BRAND spanking new laptop!!!!, 3,000 dollars please.

I just didn't feel like couhing up 2,000-3,000 for a laptop that had a 7900 GTX and really that's it. I tihnk most people who own a M170 or a 9300 are for the most part are in fact in the same boat as myself, I know not all, but alot...

You yourself Joker are not willing to spend 2000-3000 for it either, hence why you are going down the mod an E1705 and put in a 7900 GTX. If i feel the need for that 7900 GTX, I'll give my laptop away to a family member and go the same route as you by getting a E1705. But I just don't feel like spending 3,000 on that thing.

**Note: This is the reason why dell is doing so well at the moment in their laptop business.** Kudo's to them,

My Spces are as Follows:

[1] Aurora m9700

Yeah so if I wanted it I could easily just pick up a E1705 for 1250, (Half of the Alienware) And get a 7900 GTX when it comes out, to be placed in there. But then by the time all of this happens, I'm willing to say MEmron will be out. So I'd rather just buy the E1705 with Memron onboard, (or whatever Inspiron they have with Memron), and mod that with a 7900 GTX.

It's not going to be fun for you modders out there who are going to have to pick between buying a memron or a 7900 GTX , or both which I guess is going to cost at least 800 dollars.

On the contrary. Dell is AW's sugar daddy now, so he won't be leaving us in a sense.

In essence, you really didn't switch companies since Dell owns Alienware

Honestly, I like the 17" SLI lappy myself, however, I can't use my Dell financing to buy the Alienware (at least not yet)

Congrats on your new Aurora purchase I think that's where I'm headed on my next purchase too! I've had enough of dell's support team

LOL I think you might be headed from bad to much worse in that regard.

why did the 1400 x 900 resolution? I mean you won't notice a big difference with sli if your running with anything under 1600 x 1200. Just a higher benchmark score nad bragging rights. Also congrats, you got a kickass laptop right there.

Well I realize that Alienware unlike dell offer the Gloss and True Life I guess on both screens, and that's really all I care about, but I'm going to call them in the morning and see what screen is the brightest and get that one. I might up it to the 1920 by 1200 but I just don't really need it, my current screen is overkill at this resolution, don't really need it. If I could have True Life and be at 1440 by 900 i'd that the anyday.
