Problems with Bootcamp and Macbook PRO

Hi,

I instaled Windows XP in my macbook pro (15.4") and it works great! runs REALLY fast.. but i have some problems:

1- The webcam does not work.. it recognises as USB camera but it crashes if i try to open it. does not work at all.
2- The Bluetooth driver is installed, but i cant find/install my bluetooth mouse (the same i use on the Mac OSX with sucess.. even works on the boot menu - where i choose WIN/MAC, but not in XP).

other than that, but i have read about this before is that the headphone plug does not mute the speakers on the macbook and the keyboard does no light up

anyone having the same experiences or have i done something wrong?

I didnt realize headphones didnt mute speakers... wha? This would be easy to do with the hardware... you saying the muting is done via software? <roll eyes here>

My understanding from other posts is that the camera isnt working (yet). As for the mouse, do you have another mouse to try or does it need to be in discovery mode?

Bluetooth should work—at least, I'm pretty sure they have drivers for the BT card—but everything else is standard to everyone using Windows on their Macs. By the time BootCamp is finalised there should be drivers for everything but right now a few things don't work. Nothing essential, however.

The drivers that Apple provided for us w/ the Bootcamp package are not very strong. It is advisable to install Widcomm drivers (for the XP partition only).

As far as the iSight (webcam), there are not working drivers (yet) for this device & it will crash your machine if you try & use it. I haven't checked in a couple days (I usually go to onmac.net, since they developed an XP on mac solution prior to Apple's official remedy), but at last check, there was no work-around yet.

is your friend....

Here is a little explanation on how to do this if you're not so inclined: http://www.e-beam.com/support/Switch...to_WIDCOMM.pdf

Here is a place to d/l the driver stack you'll have to do some searching. Broadcom doesn't release them to the general public anymore (that I know of). They are out there......I've run across them at times. Good luck....

I was at the Apple store and spoke to the business manager about the issues reported about the wireless mouse not working and he said that if you have a external mouse connected when first using Bootcamp then the wireless mouse drivers will work (windows side); although I have not heard of anyone else reporting this.

ive also had trouble with the screensaver, and power saving feature of the LCD no activating in the set amount of time its supposed to.

i did notice the sound thing the other day. i had music playing, and had speakers plugged in. i turned the speakers off and noticed it was still playing. i was like WTF!?!?!

but mainly im concerned with the screen issues. bluetooth has a work around, and icam will be fixed wiht leapord.

Check out OnMac.net.......I think someone over there found a work-around for the power management issues you are experiencing.
