OT: This has been such a depressing day...

I don't know if everyone has heard but Comcrap has made an offer to buy the Walt Disney Company. If this goes through then Disney as we know it will cease to exist. Disney to many is more than just a brand or company...it is a vision and an American institution. It means a tremondous ammount to many and is so much a part of many of our childhoods. I would hate not to be able to take my kids (not that I have any yet) in the future to Disneyland, DisneyWorld, or the latest Disney movie. I am very depressed and pray that Disney will survive this horrible event...just needed to vent...Imagine if Dell wanted to buy Alienware...I hope that Roy Disney will step in and save Disney as we know it...for those interested in this or want to support Roy Disney in his efforts to replace Michael Eisner and save Disney please visit the following site:

Tell me about it...the saddest thing is that no one understands Disney like Disney...the values, traditions, innovations, imagination & fantasy that drives the mouse house. Comcast would look at it as an asset and sell off assests if they proved not valuable to the bottom line...this has me upset and disturbed...I hope that Roy Disney proves to be victorious...

How could any company possibly have enough money to buy Disney? Don't they own Florida and half of Europe?

Last tmie I was there I too was rather disapointed. actually it was my first time there and I will admit it was nothe best time of year to go it was the middle of june and it was hot as hell. There where lines miles long and the rides well stunk all with the acception of the tower of terror and a few others. I understand this is not a theme park for 20somethings like me but hey does this mean I have to be subjected to its a small world for an hour. Don't get me wrong I love Disney Movies and will be sad to see it go if hat is the way things go but thier theme parks are well boring. I'd much rather goto Universal! At least PIXAR had sense enough to get out while the getting was good maybe they saw this comming!

Both of you guys have valid points and if you go to Roy E. Disney's, Walt Disney's nephew, website you will see that he agrees with you. Roy Disney left Disney about 2 months ago in a very public dispute with Michael Eisner. Roy believes everything you guys believe and he is on a quest to save Disney and return it to its glory and vision of yesterday. Braingoo, I am 25 and still love everything Disney. Personally, I dislike roller coasters, thrill parks, and Universal Studios. That's just my opinion, but I think you will find that 20 something people do enjjoy Disney just as much as anyone else but it's not everyone's cup of tea which is understandable. Pixar only exists because of one man and that is John Lassetter who is an amazing and brilliantly creative story teller. The funny thing is is that he was a Disney animator who did not get along with Eisner's ego and eventually left Disney for Pixar. The majority of Pixar's staff is ex-Disney animators. The most ground-breaking, innovative, and intense ride at any park worldwide is Mission: Space that has recently openned up at Epcot. You feel weightlessness and some intense G-forces as you take off and land...it is amazing and I recommend anyone who gets the chance to experience it.
check out www.savedisney.com and read Roy's vision...Uncle Walt would be proud...

Bollocks they own half of europe- they have a EuroDisney in France but thats it- they own about a 1/1000,000,0000,0000 amount of europe!

And surely noone would shut the parks down anyway, they charge enough to be able to wipe their arses with huge notes...so if there making a ****load of cash noones gunna shut em down!

BTW..im not too keen on disney, so forgive my ****ish views.

I worked at Disneyland (as security) before making the migration to being a real cop. Then is realized how much that job sucked, so I went back to school and got my bachelor's degree. Now I get to bust stray lines of rogue code in my apps. Hey, you, halt at that break point. Just call me a human run time error.

Disney scares me, didin't old Walt want to annex part of Florida off and create his own pseudo country/tax free zone? Sounds to weird to me.

Yes and he cryogenicaly froze his body so they could resurect him later and he could rule the world with super human powers and an army of loal brain washed followers that have been watching his cartoons for years! Or thats what I heard anyway!

Another rumor...just like Walt Disney being frozen...all rumors and Harkon I don't blame you for not liking Disney...I have some family in Stockholm and there is not much we share in common. Actually, I hate Sweden so I guess we can agree to disagree...BTW, I have been to Sweden 4 times...

For me Disney is a part of my childhood and it has brought me so much happiness throughout my life that without it I would feel empty...maybe it's because I'm a Californian and Disneyland is 30mins from me...maybe it's because I truly believe that Disney is an American tradition and a symbol of creativity, idealism and magic....once again for me this is horrible and I just needed to vent...I'm sure everyone here has something they are passionate about and would hate to see it destroyed or threatened. I think we all would agree that if Dell bought AW and dissolved the company that no one here would buy a Dell Inspiron Alienware Edition notebook...I'd go with Voodoo (hahaha)...and for all those that think Disney is this huge and evil company, just imagine if Comcrap bought it. It would make them the largest media company in the world...you want to talk about an evil company...look up comcast! I went to register the site www.f--kcomcast.com and it was already registered to someone....anyhow just a depressing time for me...

I agree that disney is most definatly an american institution and I thought it was terible the day that Roy left the company and now no body with the name disney is running the show! I feel the events of recent days involving comcast are jsut an extention of that. If Roy was still in charge I don't think alot of things that have happened to disney would have ever happened. i wish you the best of luck in batteling for what you belive is right and I hope that disney will once again be the company it once was unfortunatly things are not looking good. Who knows maybe a sell to comcast is just what the company needs to kick the old crap out and bring Roy back to the head of the game.

Thanks I'll remember that

BTW my comments about eh cryogenic freezing and world domination wher just to illustrate the obsurdidy of the disney rumors!

Hmm if Roy was not teh one to take th reigns of the company back who do you think might do a good job (anyone but Michal Eisner I would suspect) I know he seemed like anice guy on TV on the weekly disney movie previews but what I've heard other than that hes a real jerk.
