monitor cover

Dude, peel off the plastic film protective covering. Thats why it looks like shyte. I have seen this soooo many times on different sites. Grab a pin or something sharp, and lift off edge of plastic from edge of metal cover. Thats it.

Unless it looks like total crap and isn't protecting the lappy anymore, i would leave the plastic cover on. Mine is starting to look bad, but no where near where I am ready to take the plastic cover off.

Of course, your laptop, do what you think is best.

^Interesting point. Can this plastic cover be replaced with a nice clean one once the old one gets too ratty?

Have had mine of for 1 year and not ONE SINGLE SCRATCH on lid without protection.I ise it like 8 hours a day. It all depends on how carefull you are when you use it. I have a velvet sweater I turned inside out and use it as a slip cover when I put it in my backpack. I also wipe it with eyegalss cloth and water once a month in a stright horizontal direction. Im actually swappin the lid ove when I get my replacement 1710.

I've left the plastic on my cover since I got in, back in May 2005.

If you are carefull and take care of your eqiptment as I stated how I do above, I would highly recomend removing it. The polished cover is just fenominal and make the system look so much better. There is a dramatic differnce and well worth doing. I constiatly get comments on it and am swaping my 170 lid over to the 1710 because i cant stand how the brushed look is on the black top. Its just as dull as the chrome 170 with the plastic on. As I said, if your carefull, youll definatly get the look you payed for. Your choice.

I wonder what a clearcoat paintjob would look like?
