so you are saying that the SZ250P/C and the one you purchased both have the "razor thin" Carbon Fiber screen casing making it thinner than the other non premuim models? also i dont really see any 160's available but techonweb.com has a SZ250P/C for right about 2k, which is right about what i was looking at spending. I was also concerned with the cact that it is a 1.83 and not at least a 2.0, but the next step up costs quite a bit...

also, any notebook memory can be used in this? or is it sony proprietary?

The SZ160P/C has a razor thin carbon fiber screen casing, yes. If you can get the SZ250P/C for about $2K I would go for it. The few SZ160P/C's I've seen are more than that.

I haven't upgraded my memory yet but I have seen that many upgrade using Corsair, etc. You can also check out this site : Sony VAIO VGN-SZ160P/C (VGN SZ160P/C) Memory

I just find it strange that in many places i can not find the individual specs for the 250, even on the sony site it doesnt list the 250

On the first page on Sony site for the SZ series, go to link 'explore the SZ series' which gives you overview of SZ series...then go to 'specifications' and there will be 5 pages of SZ series specs...SZ250 is on page 4.

I have read that several users have reported a spacebar problem with the SZ series.

The problem is listed in Sony's knowledge database as: [Knowledge Article - C420772. "The spacebar on the keyboard only works when pressed directly in the center."

It may pay to check the operation of the spacebar before you go ahead with the purchase of a SZ.

Yeah first gen SZ 1 series had the problem. All the SZ2 series I've tried so have has this problem fixed, thankfully
