XPS M1210 & XPS M2010 now availabe

Thread Starter
just decided to check dell's website this morning, and there is it. starting at a price of $1,321 for the M1210 and $3500 for the M2010.

the M1210 is like everyone says..small and has performance. up to 4GB of RAM, 100GB of hard drive, but the only thing i dont see that great, is the video card. it comes with a 7400go. i guess thats good for such a small computer, but i found that to be a dissappointment.

M2010 is basically a computer from what i see. you can configure it to have up to 4GB of RAM (2 sticks at 667MHz), up to 200GB of 7200rpm hard drive (2x100GB), and a x1800 video card.
both can have up to 2.16GHz of dual core.

*sorry if anyone already posted this info, i just thought it might be easier for people to read it all at once instead of different threads

Nice find.. I have a question though. The 1210 has the option of getting the 256MB NVIDIA® GeForceGo 7400 Graphics Card. I owned a Gen2 laptop back in July that had the GeForce Go 6800 Ultra in it and I was very happy with it's performance. So, I am wondering how these two graphics cards compare?

$3,500!!!! Outrageous!!!

hm i thought the m2010 was a concept in that it wasnt going to be built obviously i was wrong.

That is not a laptop, it is a transportable desktop. It really shouldnt be in the notebook section--the only similarity is that it is thin. 18lbs

I think that the 7400 graphics card on the M1210 has 64 Mb dedicated and you can share up to 192 shared with the RAM giving you 256 total. That really concerns me when it comes to performance. Anyone else?

Dell business just sent out 35% off exclusive coupons that expire 5/30 for laptops. They exclude the m1710 but include the m2010 (qualifies as a laptop). Fully loaded, the coupon takes over $1,500 off the price bringing it down to ~$3,000 which includes 2 gigs ram, 2 100 gig 7200 rpm hard drives running in raid, that 20" beast of a WSXGA+ Wide Screen LCD panel, Creative integrated sound, Intel® Core® T2600 Duo Processor @ 2.16GHz, and most importantly, a 256MB ATI MOBILITY™ RADEON® X1800 video card. Good deal or what?

Dell Return Policy for the XPS M1210

Can I assume if I order one of these, and there are defective pixels, that If I return it there is a 15% restocking fee?

Other then the weight I think it has alot more in common with notebooks then with a desktop.

Only if you dont place another order when you go to process the return. I dont know what would qualify, if you have to buy an equivilant system, or just any laptop. Call them and find out.

Hmm... I tried the coupon on the 3500 dollar version, and it didn't budge... the coupon doesn't say that it specifically excludes the m2010, but it's not taking it either. Maybe I'll try pricing out the higher one. If you can get this for $2300... who's not to say that this is not ego worthy compared to a m1710 fully decked? Well, looks like Dell fixed it. Probably figured that losing close to 1500 on a coupon on this computer wasn't good for business... LOL

WSXGA+(1680×1050) resolution is rather weak for a 20"+ LCD
