Port Replicator/ Power Supply question

Been waiting (somewhat patiently) for the 8790 to hit the streets. Still haven't decided on it or possibly the 8890. Either way, I'd like to get a port replicator to keep @ home where I have a million + 5 gadgets and doodads to plug in.

I've never used a port replicator before, so I'm not entirely sure how they work. I'd like to have 2 separate power sources (ie- a brick @ work and one at home). However, I wasn't sure if I needed one at home if I have a port replicator. Do the port replicators that come w/ the Sager machines have power to them or do I still have to buy an extra brick, too?

Seems like a silly question, but... hey- I just don't know!

You would need an extra power brick.

Port replicators only provide the common ports (usually PS/2, Serial, Paralell, LAN, and perhaps a few extra USB ports). If I'm not mistaken, the port replicators offered with Sager systems are USB-based, meaning you won't find a monitor port replicated.

A'ight. Thanks. That's what I had sort of gathered from other ppls' comments, but I wanted to make sure. No need to spend $70 for an extra brick (+ Int'l shipping for the extra weight) if I didn't need to.

No need for a monitor replication, so I'm good to go there. Altho' there are some good-sized LCDs over here in Japan that look mighty tasty
