M1210 just hit boxing. Yay!
My M1210 has now zoomed through production into "delivery preparation", still showing a delivery date as on or before the 12th of June. With any luck it'll ship out tomorrow for delivery on Friday as the factory is based in Ireland.

hahahah!!! Mine FINALLY went through kitting and is in the building stage. I assume it will either be in Boxing later today or tomorrow and I'll get it next week!!!

Will the system come with a way to reinstall a fresh, unbloated version of Windows Media Centre Edition?

I really hope so....

if you got it from Dell SB, then you won't really have to worry. If you got it from Dell Home, then you should reformat and reinstall. If you got it from EPP, I'm not too sure.

I got it through EPP. The only mention of software I see is this:

"Dell Resource CD with Application Backup,w/Tools, for XPS M1210"

Is that XP Media Centre Edition and Media Direct?

^no that's only the driver cd..

Anyone want to help me out with a Dell Media Center Windows XP upload? I don't need a key, since my M1210 will come with it. I just need the stupid CD
post #173 of 1042
Wow, can't wait 'til pics... bummer about how slow the build/shipping process is going. It seems that by the time you guys get your M1210's, Merom and possibly Vista will be out Just messing, good luck with your orders and congrats.

Is this an actual CD or just installed on the drive?

1 420-5591 Microsoft Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005,English for Inspiron XPS

Thank you.
It depends whether you ordered the backup media or not. I did and my packing slip has two entries:

1 English - Genuine Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005 619-10767
1 English - Genuine Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005 SP2 Backup Media 620-10487

T'would be nice if some kind soul could upload me the Media Center CD, without key of course, so I can reformat and not have to wait for the CDs!

The performance difference is quite small, really. The key is to uninstall or disable some of the stuff that automatically runs at startup that isn't really necessary. With my E1505 all I did was uninstall some worthless stuff (didn't keep a decent list though, probably should have) and that's probably all I'll do with my M1210 too.

This page explains a possible fix for the keyboard bulge. It's pretty strangely worded though, so it's a little hard to make sense of. The photos almost help. Still, better than nothing

(Off the topic: anyone know why it's so horrifically slow to type in the quick reply box?)
