Is 4 year warranty worth ~$300 ? Should I return 4 year warranty?
Well I finally pulled the trigger. I was bouncing back and forth between the Asus A8JM, the Asus WJ3, and the Dell M1210. This will be my 3rd laptop and it'll definately be the smallest. I can't wait...even though it's going to take like 3 weeks for me to get it. Damn it.

Physical Address Extension (PAE) is enabled, so I should be able to use most of it ;-)

Hey Guys,
Been lurking for a while. Just ordered my M1210. My specs are below. Does anyone know a nice hard briefcase that fits the M1210. I want something I can use as a second carry on bag for travelling to hold my laptop. I was thinking of buying the alienware aluminum briefacse made for the 15.4" screen laptop but I'd rather get something to fit this computer. Thanks for any advice guys.

that's a good price.

i wanna good deal, too

come on, dell... where's 35% coupon for the M1210?
Has anyone in Canada received their M1210 yet?

I originally ordered mine the day it came out, but dell lost the order and I didn't realize it until June 10th. I ordered again on the 11th and my order has been in Pre-production since then. Is this normal?

Also, one quick question: Is bluetooth standard on all M1210 units or is it an option?

Alright who's the ass that gave me neg rep with leaving a username?
I have to say that after having my M1210 for over a week I am absolutely thrilled. This is my 3rd dell (Inspiron 5000, XPS P4EE) with a few others in between (Compaq Evo, Thinkpad), and I am thoroughly impressed. One thing to note is that with a combination of msconfig and selective service startup you can prune what you want running without having to wipe out the os installation (personally, I hate reimaging). If you have something like Ghost of TrueImage, I would highly recommend it. I used TrueImage to create a baseline compressed image of the drive (both partitions) as soon as I started with some minimal installations and will continue to apply incrementals on top of that.

for you ms devs, I've just installed VS 2005 and it runs buttery smooth (I know all things Java on the client are memory hogs, why do you think it dominates on the server ;-). Playing FEAR on medium settings is also satisfying as well, especially considering that this is a 12". If anyone is curious, I've just purchased a Wenger Elantra Present-a-folio (which has a removable strap) to haul this in. Its not originally designed for a notebook, but since this is so small, I only have unzipper the side to slide the notebook into a compartment meant for paper. I also have a slimline targus aluminum and fits very well there also.

Mine is stuck in the boxing phase (it's only been there today) and it's driving me crazy. I'm reading everyone's impressions of this machine and it's making me more impatient. I still have to wait for it to ship to my mom then she'll have to FedEx it to me in Iraq. Blah...

I would say have patience but I have none myself. Luckily I ordered on the 4rth and received mine on the 15th. 11 days including 3 weekend days is not bad at all.

I hope you enjoy yours as much as I have been enjoying mine for the last week and a half. As my primary computer I must say that I am very impressed with the power and portability of it. I can take it everywhere and when I dock it at home it's a full featured powerful computer with good gaming capabilities.

MySQL? Microsoft would have you shot! No SQL2005?

My company is a bit behind the times, I'm still developing using VS2003 and SQL Server 2000.

I ordered mine form costco.com on June 22, and it still says its "in processing". Does anyone know how long it usually takes to ship from costco.com for an m1210?
mine stayed "in processing" for 7 days, at which point I was notified that it shipped. Total time to get it was 10 days.
