My friend just e-mailed me to say her order's in production.

Looks like it's going through for her.

It always amuses me that people are so surprised that orders go through. It happens EVERY time there's a "deal" at Dell.

I don't think it's that amusing when a coupon works that shouldn't and people have reported cancelled orders.

The coupon was reported as still alive, just not working on the XPS any more. So Dell fixing it to not work would confirm, to me at least, that it was a mistake. Your putting deal in quotations indicates that you think it was some marketing ploy or whatever by Dell. Maybe it is, but I don't think so.

The majority of orders do go through when there's a mistake like this, but some do get cancelled and I'm just happy that (and sure, maybe a little surprised as well) my friend's is not one of them.

Yeah..some people dont deserve the deal..your friend needs it, some people are just going to sell them on ebay and such...I need a lap top as well..but I didnt find out about this loophole in time...

How did you get Dell to link your order to your account? I'm having the same problem.

What's also weird is I got an email last night about dell's training service, and how my account info will be coming in 24 hours (So I guess I got some training with my xps 1210m....)

Ok, nm, finally got dell support to link my order to my account....

Building, scheduled delivery June 27-29

Who says it "shouldn't" have worked? Every month it seems there's a coupon that "shouldn't" have worked. I'm not saying this coupon was supposed to work, but I've bought a lot of things Dell in the past, and most every time I do, it involves a coupon that "shouldn't" have worked. Somehow...somehow, Dell is turning a profit.

Ordered mine in the UK this morning:

1.86 Core Duo
1GB (2x512mb) 667Mhz DDR2
100GB 5400rpm HD
Windows XP MCE 2005
Bluetooth + WIFI A/B/G
9-cell battery
8x +/- RW DVD Drive
GF7400
Audigy Audio
3 year XPS warranty

Final price of £1325.00 after some haggling on the phone with the sales lady. That translates into approx. $2470, which is pretty unfair but I guess we always do get ripped off in the UK.

Having said that the order 'quote' document the sales lady sent me via email says if I confirm the order today (which I have) then the laptop should be delivered by the 12th of June. Do customers in the USA really have to wait till the 22nd?

I really hope the MCE disk is 'clean', so that I can perform a fresh install with none of the Dell pre-installed bloat.

Well June 22 is just an estimate. Likely (read: hopefully), the laptop will ship before then.

Raise your hand if you refresh your order status page at least 27,000 times a day.

Will these be updated to Core 2 Duo soon???

Kind of pointless to buy non 64-bit CPU at this point...

There isn't one anymore. It was a code that lasted for a few hours, and is no more.

I'd love an explanation why.

So many people jump on the 64-bit bandwagon without the faintest clue how it will benefit them. There's a plethora of posts on the subject and the general concensus by most is that it won't matter for a few years still.

Let me guess - cause there's going to be a 64-bit version of Vista? *sigh*

Maybe it'll even have drivers for it. Unlike XP 64bit.

Merom should be out around August, supposedly. At which point, if the M1210 is still in production, you should be able to get one with 64 bit. Alternatively, Merom SHOULD be a drop-in upgrade for existing Core Duo laptops.

I purchased an ES 2.0ghz Merom and i'm going to attempt to install it when my M1210 comes. I'll keep everyone posted.
