holy crap, two pages of ???
download prime95, run it's torture test, if it still stays at 798mhz start panicking. if it goes to your advertised cpu speed, learn what you purchased. the cpu is supposed to throttle like that unless you want battery life of 2.5hrs, in that case don't by pentium-m powered laptops or any processor with speedstep technology

Do you think its the fact that I have only 1 stick of ram? and maybe its not the right mhz?

What mhz(PCwhat?) do I need.. and do these PM's run with 1 stick of ram? I thought this was a dual channel proc

My Dell did this when the fan broke.

It did it again when the Battery was running out of juice.

Check that the fan over the cpu is working properly. I think the program is called I8FanGUI or something like that.

Next remove the battery, plug it in, and try it that way.

Ok wow, I just checked the CPU fan.. it wasn't working. I then took apart my laptop (this was a pain in the mother ****in ass) and the damn fan was unplugged... how the hell

Works now.. lol

I have no idea..

I traded with a guy... The way the power cord was undone.. I just don't see how he can say it worked when he had it. I thought maybe it was from shipping but I had to take the fan out and move the cord all the way around to connect it..

Just happy it works now.

I would have proved you wrong earlier.. but I'm just lazy anymore when it comes to troubleshooting computers.

And that laptop.. was a BITCH to take apart. I broke 3 snap thingies.. good thing the screws hold it together.

if u broke the "snap thingies" then you must not know how to take a laptop properly or ur very clumsy and impatient
post #37 of 38
your cpu is throttling from either a lack of power or excessive heat.
