Dell TrueLife vs HP Ultra Bright View

Thread Starter
I would like to read informed comments from users that can describe pro's and con's and comparisons of the Dell TrueLife and HP Ultra Bright View screens.

In particular, I'd like to know about how the image clarity degrades as viewing angle increases. In other words, how much corner darkness do you notice as you don't look straight at the screen?

Dell TrueLife WUXGA: 1920 x 1200
HP Ultra Bright View WXGA: 1440 x 900

The HP in my sig has a Bright View screen and It's not a superb screen.. viewing angles are ok.. dark corners are very noticeable.. I've tried two dell laptops before but these weren't truelife so I can't comment.

I have owned a Dell laptop that had truelife and all I can say is Wow! It had the best looking screen when it comes to color and crispness that I have seen on a lappie. The viewing angles were very good as well.

Hi, i own a Dell Inspiron 630m with a WXGA Truelife and all I can say is: CRAP!
I owned a Toshiba M35 and the screen was 100 times better than my actual Dell.
I'm thinking of buying a new laptop and one of my requirements is a good screen, I don't care if is XGA, SXGA or whatever I only want good view angles and no likeage! Any advice for a $1000-1200 range?

I know Sony laptops have really good screen but they're so expensive!

I've owned several HP 17" with ultra bright.
My current HP is dv9500T
CPU 7700T
GPU 8600GS
RAM 4G
HDD 250x2
LCD Ultra Bright

Ultra bright cannot be purchased in store, it has to be purchased online

I've seen lots of screens, but nothing so far compares to the ultra bright. I read somewhere that there are two guns behind the screen and that's why it's so bright from " any " angle.

I get comments all the time on how bright, clear and crisp it is regardless of the users viewing angles ( across room, 180 degrees horizontal or vertical ).

I can view my screen in bright sunlight during middle of the day.

I wanted to purchase lenovo; however, their screens wash out completely in day light and i like to work outside on picnic table, park bench, near window where sunlight is coming through etc... Suspect lenovo thinkpads are for business and it's probably one of those unintention security features.

Anyway, wish hp had 19??x1200, etc with ultra bright, but the ultra bright is so good i choose it over dell...

Dell usually does very well too... Can't comnent on dells current offerings, but i liked the old 8200 inspirion WUXGA i had with 1600x1200.

Again, i've not seen anything that compares to the " HP ULTRA BRIGHT "...

Don't listen to anyone's comments regarding the ultra bright unless they've actually owned one. You cannot purchase this in store so unless they've purchased it online and specifically requested ultra bright, then they're comments are not based on facts, experience, etc...

Again, the Ultra Bright is never provided as demo in stores, outlets, wherehouses ( costco's ), etc...
