Meh..I'll pass. I am happy with my 700m

I will definitely get this the next time there is a decent coupon around. Otherwise I'm not interested in using 1500+ for Dell.

coupons should be coming...

Ahhh... After found out the weights is about the same as the D620, I think I'll stick with the D620.

Quick question, does the M1210 have any audio out besides the headphone out? On my XPS Gen 2 laptop I could use a dongle on the S-Video out that would break out into S-Video, Composite, and Coax digital audio out.

The pictures that I've seen of the XPS M1210's S-Video out jack, look identical to those of my XPS Gen 2's S-video out. So i'm guessing I could just plug my dongle in, but I dunno if it would actually work. Anyone know? I would like to use coax digital audio out.

Sexy review. Can't wait for mine. The lack of full-size keyboard on the 700/710m systems really put me off them. M1210 ftw!

2.58 hours with a 9 cell?? WTF.

He was doing a lot of junk though, using the DVD drive, playing a computer game on it, etc. I know I probably wouldnt use the DVD drive unless I was plugged in

That dismal battery life is a reflection of WIFI being on and doing heavy doing workload on the CPU.

However, without WIFI, the battery life should approach 4:30 like that of the 710m.

It has a dedicated graphics card which he was able to play Half Life 2 without a problem.

Dell claims 7:45 hours with 9 cell. So I expect around 7:15 hours (6:30 wifi on), which ain't bad at all. I may get one next year with Vista. No need for it now

That doesn't look very impressive for the price.

Unlikely you'll get 6:30 with wifi on, unless you let the computer idle with minimum monitor brightness.

According to the reviews I have read in Laptop mag, a few of the latest laptops get nearly the same battery life with wifi on. Note that most of the battery life measurements assume that the laptop is in "max battery" mode, e.g. dim monitor

But that's not realistic usage of a laptop. It's too difficult to use at minimum brightness.

so if it is listed at around 7, expect more like 5 hours?

I got insane battery life from my 640m on the 9 cell. It lasted ~6hrs and still had juice, wifi always on. I should mention that i had to use powerstrip though because i couldn't stand how washed out the colors were and i wasn't opening/closing anything other than my Java program that i was programming on.

I think the 1210 should be able to get even better life since the screen is smaller, (maybe the graphics card will drain a bit more power)

Its decent, but I am not sure. I bet with some undervolting and just wifi/movie viewing etc... I think 4-5 is possiable, but with a 9 cell I expect much more

I'm guessing the graphics card rapes battery life, not good on an ultraportable. Think I'll stick with onboard graphics I don't play games anyway.
