Intel Yonah performs better
Yonah has more platforms to choose from

Turion X2 is cheaper
Turion X2 is 64-bit

Both are dual core and both have the same battery life.

while yonah performs better Turion X2 is priced cheaper. Hence an TX2 performs similar to Yonah at the same price point with higher clock speed. Which will you buy?

and yes, I will go for TurionX2. Merom is going to be a killer but its some months away. Yonah I think is useless.

As of right now, I think you are right. Merom is a quite a ways away. Yonah would just be a waste of money. Now, if only I could find a decent laptop with the Turion X2 and nVidia graphics (NOT TurboCache/HyperMemory)...

Definitely Core Duo, because Core 2 Duo (Merom) will just kill the Turion X2 and Yonah in 2 months, not to mention Core Duo already slightly faster clock on clock...

where can you get Turion X2 from?

I would take the Turion X2... well, because, thats what Chuck Norris would do.

Turion X2, although I'm just guessing at this point that it'll be superior to Yonah.

Personally, I wouldn't call 64bit a selling point, unless you're wanting more than 4GB of RAM. Honestly, 64bit has been out for almost 3 years now and there's still no practical reason to have it. Yes, it might change with Vista, but had I bought a 64bit CPU 3 years ago I'd be mighty angry by now that I still have no reason to have it.

For the record though, I own more AMD machines than I own Intel. Aside from Intel retail edge bundles I buy off friends that work at major retailers, and notebooks. I purchase strictly AMD. Just in case anyone was going to call me a fanboy.

So the Yonah would be > over just the Turion, yes?

Until Core 2 hits the stores, AMD on my desktops and servers, Intel on the laptops. When Core 2 does hit, time to re-evaluate my options.

Turion X2. My next laptop must last for ages and this hardly would be possible with a 32 bit CPU, just because there will be less 32 bit software as time goes and, you know, most software won't need a high end machine to work, but there's no way a 32 bit CPU can run 64 bit code.

but if you buy from dell you have no choice

but if you buy from Acer, Hp/COmpaq, Fujistu you have all the choice you need.

I just hope to see a good TX2 Turion X2 notebook with a decent gpu soon.
