That is how we do it on Long Island! Everything is ecessive, including real estate prices. 5 voodoos in 2 years and 1 Apple Mac mini. Chalk one up in the waiting line for me with Merom and K8L both around the corner.

We demand new and we demand quality.

Darn it, Prowler, I thought you were going to say you hit phase four, meaning the rest of us would soon be behind. This waiting thing is going to drive me absolutely nuts, I tell you what.

Lol!! Sorry, I wish I had one of these on order. I'm going to wait a while and get a new deskop.

Nope, I am still phase 3 as of tonight.
Still in phase 3 here, too. But I wasn't expecting any movement until mid next week, early week after. *shrugs* Franklin said they were getting the parts today or Monday.

You guys might want to call and acutally check with your mALX CS person... All of us m9700 guys are still on phase 3 according to the AW site, but several have been told over the phone that they are acutally in phase 4...

I talked to my contact on Wednesday. Its the painted cases that is the cause of our delay. *shrugs* It'll get here eventually, I'd rather it was built right then in a hurry.

*grins slightly* Besides, our little problem with checking our status over the phone with alienware is that only troubleshooting alx is open over the weekend. Ordering and Customer service are closed.

does the malx come with 2 graphics cards or is it just able to carry 2??????
do u guys think i can find a loptop with equivilant features as the malx that is cheaper then $4,500

The mALX comes with 2 (two) 7900 GTX video cards, while other laptops (5950/AX-9/Voodoo clone) can carry them, the won't be receiving those cards for another month. You can buy the 5950 or AX-9 for around a thousand cheaper, they don't come with some of the perks.

For one, you get the GTX cards now instead of having to pay 600-900 later to upgrade to them. You get a free backpack specially designed for the mALX, one that looks much cooler then the cheap canvas bag you can buy for the 5950/AX-9. You get a custom paint job, a sixty dollar mouse painted to match the machine, a pair of two hundred dollar headphones, and miscellaneous other trinkets.

The mALX is specially made for you, down to a nameplate on the bottom of the machine signed to you from the Alienware President/VicePresident. And like I said, ALX customer support is some of the best in the computer world. Can you get a sli laptop for cheaper? Yes. Can you get one as powerful as the mALX for cheaper? Eventually. Will you get as much from them as you will the mALX? Doubtful.

If your looking for cheaper with almost as much power, I would suggest the Aurora 9700, its a better machine spec wise, far more storage, more convenient to carry, a far greater battery life, and can be configured to the extreme for 42-4500. The mALX is a toy and a luxury item pure and simple, its expensive, extravagent, flashy, and something not everyone wants. YOu have to make up your own mind Truewash, all we can do is give suggestions and advice.

I do advise you to avoid Voodoo PC's like the plague. They overcharge even worse then the mALX and their customer service is abysmal.

And yes, I did order an mALX, I'm in phase three at the moment waiting very impatiently, and for the record, advice on the computers should be held in Alienware Area-51 and Aurora Notebooks located http://www.notebookforums.com/forum27.html
