The mALX comes with 2 (two) 7900 GTX video cards, while other laptops (5950/AX-9/Voodoo clone) can carry them, the won't be receiving those cards for another month. You can buy the 5950 or AX-9 for around a thousand cheaper, they don't come with some of the perks.
For one, you get the GTX cards
now instead of having to pay 600-900 later to upgrade to them. You get a free backpack specially designed for the mALX, one that looks much cooler then the cheap canvas bag you can buy for the 5950/AX-9. You get a custom paint job, a sixty dollar mouse painted to match the machine, a pair of two hundred dollar headphones, and miscellaneous other trinkets.
The mALX is specially made for you, down to a nameplate on the bottom of the machine signed to you from the Alienware President/VicePresident. And like I said, ALX customer support is some of the best in the computer world. Can you get a sli laptop for cheaper? Yes. Can you get one as powerful as the mALX for cheaper? Eventually. Will you get as much from them as you will the mALX? Doubtful.
If your looking for cheaper with almost as much power, I would suggest the Aurora 9700, its a better machine spec wise, far more storage, more convenient to carry, a far greater battery life, and can be configured to the extreme for 42-4500. The mALX is a toy and a luxury item pure and simple, its expensive, extravagent, flashy, and something not everyone wants. YOu have to make up your own mind Truewash, all we can do is give suggestions and advice.
I do advise you to avoid Voodoo PC's like the plague. They overcharge even worse then the mALX and their customer service is abysmal.
And yes, I did order an mALX, I'm in phase three at the moment waiting very impatiently, and for the record, advice on the computers should be held in Alienware Area-51 and Aurora Notebooks located
