The Ultimate Gaming Laptop

Hey, can you help me determine which of the following (or something completely different) is the best laptop for gaming currently out there?

Any advice - pros/cons? Bear in mind that I live in Europe (Denmark), which might limit the possibilities somewhat.

Dell XPS M1710
http://configure.euro.dell.com/dells...pn_xps_m1710_2

or

Alienware Aurora M9700
http://www.alienware.co.uk/Configura...de=SKU-DEFAULT

I'd say that somewhere in the vicinity of $4300 would be the maximum amount I'd be willing to pay - all included.

Thanks a lot.

I saw a benchmark to show the SLI laptops (like the new 9700) were faster than the m1710 even with the 512MB video memory on the 7900GTX, so if you want ultimate.....

Have you looked at the 19" SLI models, yeh I know a little too big..

But then the m1710 is a nice aluminium case, nice screen, nice sounds and nice cooling, lots of good options these days.

Gotta go SLI to get the ultimate. But the 7900 alone is awesome... and cheaper.

I would suggest either the Clevo D900K (aka Sager 9750) or the Clevo M570U (aka Sager 5760).
You can get everythign you want with either models for well under your budget.

Clevo D900K (aka Sager 9750)

64bit Dual Core AMD
7900GTX 256mb
Can have Dual HDD in RAID config
Can have Dual Optical Drives

Slightly heavy (14lbs), louder and hotter than the Clevo M570U (Sager 5760)
Low battery Life

Clevo M570U (Sager 5760)

32bit Dual Core Intel Yonah (possible upgrade to 64bit Dual Core when Merom is released)
7900GTX 256mb (possible upgrade to 7900GTX 512mb as early as July)
Single HDD & Optical Drive

Slightly lightter (9lbs), quiter and coolr than the Clevo D900K (aka Sager 9750)
Approx 1hr 45mins Battery Life with everything on.

If you decide on what I suggested, HIGHLY Suggest buying them from either Powernotebooks.com or DiscountLaptops.com

Thanks for your feedback. One of the important things that I have been unable to clarify properly is this:
Is there a NOTICABLE performance difference between the 512MB 7900 GTX and the Dual 256MB 7900GTX SLI? How much are we taliing about here? Is the SLI config alone worth the extra bucks?

And how important is the 64Bit processor?

If you check the Sager 5760 Review in this same website you should be able to have a general idea of the performance difference between the 256mb and 512mb 7900GTX.
From what I saw, it is really not too much.
From a review of a 256mb vs 512mb 7800GTX, it was only a 10-20% Increase.
