How is the build quality on these?

I was interested because of the low cost?

I noticed it doesn't even resemble the Thinkpad. Does it have a completely different theme than the Thinkpads.

Not sure what you mean about theme. The Lenovo 3000 laptops are ThinkPads...so no black and no eraser head.

I've used one, briefly, and they are solid. The keyboard feels the same as a ThinkPad. The case around the screen is not as stiff as a T, both similar to an R and much stiffer than the Dell my buddy uses at the office (btw, I'm typing this on a T42p and I used an R51p and an A31p before getting this.) The glossy screen on the N100 is very nice looking.

The N100 seems like a great product to me, but as I said...I have limited experience with it.

by theme, from the pictures, it doesn't look like a regular thinkpad laptop.

The 3000 series is the more 'budget' line, while the thinkpads are geared toward business users. The thinkpads are the T, X, R, and Z series; and the 3000 line has the C, N, and V series.

While the thinkpads are continued from IBM, the 3000 line is the first introduced by Lenovo. They definitely have a different look. Here's a pretty good review: http://www.notebookreview.com/default.asp?newsID=2839

Doh! Sorry...my last ThinkPad was an R50p. 15" screen, 32MB Vid Card (iirc). I don't think IBM made many of them, but I had one.
