My Alienware is back with some other goodies!

Hello guys!

Been out for awhile coz work has been crazy. Anyways, I went back to my hometown coz its my parents birthday and here I am, posting a new thread with my Alienware! Just came from the states for repairs and everything is going great so far. Best of all, my harddisk is still intact. I forgot to backup my files and this is really great!

I also got some other goodies.

1. Lapcool 4
2. PacificBreeze
3. Saitek Eclipse Keyboard
4. Razer Copperhead
5. two 1 gb kingston memory

I'll post reviews as soon as I can! I'll do my testing while I'm here at my hometown. I'll probably post the reviews when I go back to work. I have some questions though.

Are there any driver updates for 6800 ultra? If yes, where to get them.. I went to laptopvideo2go.com but I don't have any idea which to download. Any assistance would really be appreciated.

Also, right now, I'm getting CPU - 48 C, System - 39 C, VGA - R:52C, L:52C with getthernal with lapcool4 at high. Is that an ok temp?

Hey, a fellow Pinoy! Yessss...

Any laptopvideo2go driver would work, provided the modded *.ini they provide includes your 6800, which all do. The latest stable WHQL version would suffice, though if you tweak your rig for gaming/benchmarking there are a slew of older builds that may score higher. You can also try the XGXtreme drivers as well.

CPU temp will be a little high if you're in PI, mainly because ambient temps there are much higher than most places here in the US and its humid & muggy, but I think you'll be fine.

Can't wait for the review.

Hi Jiggylicious,

We chatted about the Eclipse keyboard before, and I told you some of my keys had worn. Just to update you, I contacted Eclipse and told them about it, and they're sending me replacement keys for the ones that are worn. They say they had a few early batches of keys that didn't get properly clearcoated, and their policy is to replace worn keys.

I'd rather be able to buy a full set, but since they're sending me replacements for free I won't complain.

Just so you know if you have an issue with the keys in the future...

uncleburdy: Hey there fellow Pinoy! So, what driver do you suggest I download? There's a lot of to choose from. I want to download the driver coz I'v read that it lowers the 6800 ultra temp. I'm kind of scared to do a lot of tweaking with my notebook coz it just came from the depot. Wasn't able to use it for almost 5 months. Anyway, that's over with and AW did a great job!

Yea, that's why I bought two notebook coolers and always set my aircon to the lowest temperature possible. It's freezing! We are a tropical race you know.

Hammerhead: Yea, your insight regarding the eclipse really helped me in deciding. Thank you HH. And I'm really happy with the keyboard especially when the lights are off! It really compliments the razer copperhead, the Audio DJ time, the power button and the Alien eyes. And oh yea, I also bought a blue lavalamp to top it off! hahaha

Setting the aesthetic values aside, the eclipse really does have a nice feel.

I wash my hands and check my nails everytime before using the eclipse. hehehe

ishni: Hey there pinoy! I work in makati. But I'm currently in davao for my parents birthday. They're the ones who brought my notebook from the states. It came from the repair depot. How bout you? which part are you from?

It's been a while since I visited the states.

ALL: I forgot to list the ff items.

Thermal paste and Lava Lamp.

So far, the razer is doing great. I'm downloading the latest driver for it. I'm still deciding where to place the 2nd notebook cooler(pacific breeze) and I'm waiting for alienware to reply regarding the memory installation. Sent them an email so that they'll also know.

Awe yeah, you know filipinos are in the house because there's mention of aircon! Sweet.

I'm from Pangasinan, straight country life baby! I think if I plugged in my laptop I'd sap the whole province dry with the power I need. My family there are literally rice farmers, I try to make it back every few years.

Hey jiggy, I use these (just realized that they don't allow remote linking, so it's the 87.25 series, WHQL) with no problems, they work well. They are the latest before the non-WHQL 90 series one on there, so I feel safest with this one. As far as temps, you got me, as I have no recollection of hearing about that. But still, using Rivatuner or what not should give you some concrete numbers.

Let me know.

I also ordered when it said the estimated ship date was June 26, but unfortunately the actual ship dates are usually later rather than before the estimates....

I know how hard it is waiting for a new Alienware, this is my sixth time. It doesn't get any easier. But... for me it's always been more than worth the wait. This looks to be an awesome computer.

ishni: Makati is great! But the traffic is something else.. I plan to bring my lappy at coffee shops and game. Coffee bean or starbucks will do. Yes!!

unclebrudy: Yea! aircon is truly a filipino word! hahaha! I installed the driver you suggested, and I'm planning to throw some games at it. Can't wait to for my oblivion download to finish to try it out! I'll buy the original if I like the game! hahaha!

Everyones talking bout food... hhmm... I should go get some "exotic" filipino food here! haha!

My temps are 50 C for CPU and 55 for GPU.. the highest I've seen my GPU went was 60 and I was playing need for speed.. is that ok?

Guys, should I be setting my notebook fans to high?

I tried the configurator again today, and it looks like the m9700 shipping date has moved forward to june 28. If only I had the remote control from Click Anyways, like you said its more than worth the wait..
