Use Alt-PrtScrn to only get a shot of the currently active window.

thanks for the replies. I got a screeny up on the first page. I used MS paint and went from there. I mainly wanted a real screeny so people no I am not full of horse poop. As I stated before, if people want benchies of anything in particular I can do it so let me know.

superpi (w/ screenshot), 3dmark05 cpu test and 3dmark06 would be good.

Nice job. I'd give you rep if it meant anything.

BTW, I use a little (less than 200k) program called Deskscan for clipping screenies. It lets you make a box around any area on your screen and it's free. It's one of the better KISS tools out there.

Thanks for the app. Some rep your way as well. I will be posting some screenies shortly for the super pi and 3DMark05 shortly...

well no duh zimm

what about the A01 bios?

uhoh looks like 7900 gs users might get left in the dark T.T

Regarding its fussiness over ram, will pc5300 automaticly downclock and change timings (in cpuz my pc5300 ram lists the right timings at lower frequencies) or do you have to get differnt chips?

I have no accurate way to test that as I do not have PC 5300 RAM. All I know is I got it running perfect with my Mushkin DDR2 533 and will be more than happy to keep using it for a while longer as it provides as much bandwidth as these chips use right now.

A00 bios.

why dont you try the A01 bios?

Ok, so the only difference you've noticed in 3DMark is about 100 points right?

Are there any other advantages to a merom processor or what? For all the talk about this processor, you'd think it would've been alot more powerful or something...

How about comparing a score from a CPU intensive program?

Thanks for posting all the info!

I use PrintKey 2000 (the freeware version of PrintKey Pro)

I compared the benchmark for the dual core ready CineFormHD encoder between a 2.16GHz Yonah and the same speed Merom - the result is a 21% improvement.

It becomes a 25% improvement when comparing the new chip with the 1.83GHz Yonah in my E1705 running the same benchmark.

The 2.16GHz Merom outperformed my desktop Athlon X2 4400 system by 8% according to the same speed test.

FYI the CineFormHD encoder is widely used by hi-def video production facilities and it's an extraordinary piece of code that'll make use of however many cores are available. So it's a good multithreaded benchmark but by no means definitive.

Perhaps Vista will make use of the differences, who knows?

Can someone post the A00 bios for the E1705 and confirm if the 7900GS works with this bios version. I am considering buying the E1705 with 7900GS if I can upgrade the cpu to merom later. However if this is not possible because the 7900GS requires the A01 bios and the merom is not supported with this bios version then I will be forced to consider the XPS m1710 instead which will double the price!
Anyone have experience with the merom and bios A01?

I'm getting a 2.0GHz Merom next week and will try BIOS A01 so long as I can flash back to A00.

I don't think A00 works with the 7900GS on the E1705 so in your scenario you really want to hope that A01 does work.

Since A00 is no longer on the Dell site, can someone tell me how to back-up my current BIOS... or is it done automatically?

You guys realize that 3d Mark barely relies at all on the CPU? Do tests that acctually use the CPU. Render things, encode things, etc. Time them. Do Super Pi and other CPU benchmarks.
