An excellent machine for gaming entusiasts. It'll be interesting to see a full spec and pricing. I think it will probably lose features like a built in cam and TV that will both be in the 9110 but if gaming's your thing and you don't want all these features then it looks like this is going to be fantastic.

Yep, I'm interested to see more. Built-in cam would be nice to have, but TV I couldn't care less about - it can easily be added (USB, CardBus or ExpressCard).

True, but then so can a cam really. It's just nice to have these features built in.
I guess we'll have to wait and see.

The difference is that for reasonable picture quality, terrestrial TV still requires an external antenna. A webcam needs nothing external in addition to the camera. Even if a TV card is built in, I'll still have to deal with antennae / cables. A webcam can go in my laptop and I never have to worry about any cables or forgetting to bring something with me to use it.

Yeah and if you wanted to add a TV card you'd be in the same postion so I guess you don't want TV on the laptop. In which case the new 5672 with 256mb x1600 might be a better choice if you were to get a new notebook or are you a gaming enthusiast?

Well, I posted it mostly just to let you guys know about the new announcement.

With that said, I'm looking for something that's as powerful as possible (to ensure it lasts me for as long as possible), with a minimum of a 15" screen, DVD burner, largest / fastest hard disk(s) I can manage, while keeping under about $2200, and preferably under about eight pounds.

Other than WinXP I really don't care what software comes with it. Oh, and it has to be reasonably durable / well built. Reasonable (2 - 3 hours) battery life minimum, and as wide an array of connectivity as possible. Webcam would be nice, so would a fingerprint reader, anything else is candy, really.

Right now I am tending towards the TravelMate 8204WLMi or the Ferrari 5000, I'm just waiting on benchmarks for the latter.

Looks like you're in the same position as me. I would have bought the 5672 but for the x1400 and even if I got a 5672 with x1600 imported from the USA it only has the x1600 with 128mb dedicated memory so wouldn't work to it's potential anyway. I then would have went for the 5652 but for it having no cam and only 1024mb ram so I waited and i'm glad I did. The 5672 with x1600 and 256mb looks good but I think the 9110 with Geforce Go 7600 will be the one I go for. It really has every feature you could possibly need.

Actually i'm gonna do the sensible thing and wait til August for the Core2 Duo.

Ihave to wonder if they are going to be able to address the full 4GB. Every other notebook has had to make space for the system components in that 4GB. That is why they can only address 2.5GB for programs

Above is the first picture I've seen of the 9510, courtesy of DigiTimes.com.

First thoughts: Why is the touchpad *so* far off center???

The touchpad has to be centered on the actual keyboard. If it wasnt, you'd be hitting the touchpad with your right palm all the time while typing.

This joint has pics, but they're all really small. http://www.digitimes.com/news/a20060605PR202.html&Cat=2

What I don't understand (Dell did this too) is why the 17" laptops have better video cards than the 20.1" laptops. What's the point of making such a huge machine if you don't take advantage of the extra space to get some screaming graphics in there?

Anyway, the 9510 looks like it'll be a nifty machine. Wonder how the price and availability will be...
